Moto Guzzi Trip 500

Moving beyond its world famous longitudinal 90 V-twins, Moto Guzzi has introduced its first ever production motorcycle powered by a parallel twin engine

An iconic Italian motorcycle manufacturer and the oldest European motorcycle brand in continuous production, Moto Guzzi has unveiled its newest motorcycle, called ‘The Trip’. Powering the bike is a 48 hp parallel-twin engine, which is the same as Aprilia’s 457cc engine platform, used with RS 457 and Tuono 457. The 457cc engine platform is manufactured at Aprilia’s facility in Baramati, Maharashtra. H1 FY2027 Motorcycle exports shows 19 units of the Trip 500 were exported from India. However, India launch plans for ‘The Trip’ are yet to be confirmed.

Moto Guzzi ‘The Trip’ – Performance, key features

For now, only limited details about ‘The Trip’ have been revealed. More information is expected at EICMA 2026, where ‘The Trip’ will be showcased. Moto Guzzi has stated that the bike’s parallel-twin engine delivers smooth throttle response. It has ample torque availability from low revs and is designed for agile, engaging handling.

Positioned as a versatile machine, ‘The Trip’ is suitable for everyday urban rides as well as journeys beyond city limits. Moto Guzzi The Trip uses a ride-by-wire electronic throttle and has three riding modes of Road, Sport and Rain. Users can select the Road mode for everyday rides, prioritizing comfort and smoothness. Rain mode helps riders tackle challenging conditions with greater confidence.

In Sport mode, the bike’s full capability is unleashed. Other key highlights include a quick shifter and an integrated pictogram-based navigation system. ‘The Trip’ has a striking presence with gold-finished USD forks and a circular headlamp with a stylised eagle motif stretching across its width. Other key highlights include a sculpted fuel tank with iconic Moto Guzzi Eagle emblem, 2 into 1 underbelly exhaust, and a single piece saddle with embroidered ‘The Trip’ logo.

The parallel-twin setup gives the bike a more modern aesthetic, although its design differs considerably from Moto Guzzi’s signature V-twin models. With the pulled-back handlebar and centrally positioned footpegs, users can expect a comfortable riding stance. Buyers can choose from three colour options – Black Metropolis, Green Grove and Red Beat. Moto Guzzi is also offering ‘The Opening’ special edition, especially designed for enthusiasts who want to be part of the brand’s new parallel-twin journey.

Specifications

As mentioned earlier, detailed specs of ‘The Trip’ have not been revealed. The bike is likely to use 17-inch wheels at both ends, wrapped in road-biased tyres. A wider rear tyre ensures enhanced traction during high speed manoeuvres. Disc brakes are there at both ends and dual-channel ABS will be standard. A monoshock suspension has been used at the rear, which links the subframe to the swingarm directly.

Moto Guzzi has revealed that ‘The Trip’ weighs 397 lbs or approximately 180 kg. Seat height is 31.1-inch or around 790 mm, which seems optimal for agile handling. The bike uses a 3.97 gallon or approx. 15-litre metal fuel tank. Tech kit includes a 3.6-inch circular TFT display, providing clear, crisp information. Users can access a range of connected features. ‘The Trip’ also has backlit handlebar controls for a seamless experience.
