2027 Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Launch Price JPY 6.3 Mil (Rs 39 L) – New Hybrid Engine

While the non-electrified petrol engine has been phased out, updated Land Cruiser 300 retains the 303 hp 3.3-litre biturbo diesel engine

Toyota has introduced the updated Land Cruiser 300 Series in Japan with a hybrid engine and multiple new features. Three trims are on offer – GX, ZX and GR Sport. The updated model will be available in showrooms in Japan from 1st October 2026. Prices start at JPY 6,300,800 for 2027 Land Cruiser 300 with a 3.3L Twin Turbo V6 Diesel. This turns out to be around Rs 38.75 lakh (which is less than a locally manufactured Fortuner Diesel MT 4X4 costs in India).

Updated Land Cruiser 300 – New hybrid engine

With the updated Land Cruiser 300 in Japan, Toyota has discontinued the non-electrified twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine. The base GX will have only the diesel engine. This engine generates 409 hp and 650 Nm of torque and is offered with a 10-speed automatic transmission. In its place, Toyota has introduced a new self-charging hybrid powertrain. This setup comprises the same twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine, integrated with a single electric motor.

Also part of the hybrid powertrain is a 10-speed automatic transmission and a 6.5 Ah nickel-metal hydride battery. Toyota is offering the hybrid powertrain with the ZX and GR Sport trims. With the hybrid setup, performance has been enhanced significantly to 457 hp and 790 Nm. This makes the updated model the most powerful factory Land Cruiser ever built. Another key update is a new electric power steering system for the SUV.

Hybrid Land Cruiser 300 can perform better across off-road environments owing to instant torque availability from the electric motor. Toyota has also introduced some critical redundancies such as the ability to keep the vehicle moving with the ICE engine in case the hybrid setup malfunctions. The hybrid model also retains the earlier water wading capability of 700 mm.

Land Cruiser 300 hybrid weighs 170 kg more than the non-electrified version. It has a smaller 68-litre fuel tank, as compared to the 80-litre fuel tank used with the petrol-only model. Updated Land Cruiser 300 retains the 3.3-litre biturbo diesel engine. This unit generates 303 hp and 700 Nm of torque and is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Styling refresh

With the updated Land Cruiser 300 in Japan, buyers can choose four different styling configurations, depending on the variant. The base GX variant features smaller intakes that connect to the black grille. Other features of the GX variant include aluminium side steps and 18-inch alloy wheels in a silver finish. Styling for the ZX diesel model remains largely unchanged.

However, the new ZX HEV model features a redesigned front bumper extension. This variant has side intakes that extend towards the skid plate. The ZX HEV variant also has a distinctive garnish for the fog lights. With GR Sport variant, most of the features are same as earlier. Key highlights include more rugged skid plates, prominent cladding and 18-inch alloy wheels in a matte black finish.

For buyers wanting even more exclusivity, Toyota is offering a new Modellista bodykit with the updated Land Cruiser 300. This package includes items like sporty extensions for front and rear bumpers, side steps and flared wheel arches. Also included are 20-inch alloy wheels with a custom six double-spoke design.

New features

Diesel variants of updated Land Cruiser 300 in Japan are available in a 5-seat configuration. Hybrid variants have a 7-seat layout. Standard equipment now has features like wireless smartphone charging, road to vehicle communication and a Cold Weather Package for all variants. In terms of variant-wise features, the ZX and GR Sport trims have 12.3-inch screens, a 14-speaker JBL audio system and a colour head-up display.

Also included are features like front and rear dashcams, a rear-seat entertainment system and two accessory outlets. The ZX has features like Adaptive Variable Suspension, whereas the GR Sport is equipped with the more capable E-KDSS suspension. A wide range of accessories are also available with the updated Land Cruiser 300.

Updated Land Cruiser 300 – Pricing

New Land Cruiser 300 base GX trim (diesel only) is available at a starting price of JPY 6,300,800 (Rs 38.75 lakh). ZX diesel is available at a starting price of JPY 8,750,500 (Rs 53.81 lakh). GR Sport diesel has a price tag of JPY 9,150,900 (Rs 56.28 lakh). Next are the hybrid variants, with the ZX HEV priced at JPY 9,801,000 (Rs 60.27 lakh).

The GR Sport HEV starts at JPY 10,200,300 (Rs 62.73 lakh). Buyers choosing the Modellista bodykit will need to pay an additional JPY 546,700 (Rs 3.36 lakh). For the 20-inch forged aluminium wheels, an additional JPY 933,900 (Rs 5.74 lakh) needs to be paid.
