Mahindra BE 6 To Get Updated With Triple Screen – New Features

Updates for BE 6 could be introduced across all variants or offered exclusively with the higher trims

Mahindra’s born electric cars have been hugely successful, propelling the brand to the second bestselling position in the EV segment. While the XEV 9S and XEV 9e dominate, the BE 6 continues to register consistent sales. To enhance value for its customers, Mahindra has planned some important updates for BE 6. These are likely to be model year updates for the SUV rather than a facelift.

Mahindra BE 6 – New features explained

One of the key updates expected is a full-width, three screen display. This setup is already in use with the XEV 9S and XEV 9e. The same unit can be installed with the BE 6 as well. BE 6 is currently available with dual 12.3-inch screens across all variants. With the new model, BE 6 will essentially be adding the passenger display unit. With the XEV 9S and XEV 9e, the passenger screen is also 12.3-inch in size.

A triple screen setup stretching across the dashboard has better aesthetics than a single- or dual-screen layout. This upgrade for BE 6 could also help tackle increased competition in the mid-size electric SUV segment. For context, the recently launched Tata Sierra EV is equipped with a three screen layout. This feature could be introduced with other rival offerings in the future.

Another expected update for BE 6 is a revised structure for the cockpit. The existing model utilizes a segmented approach for the driver and passenger sections. While this setup ensures a sportier feel, it presents some practical challenges. For example, the beam over the centre console makes it difficult for the front passenger to access the wireless charger and Type-C USB ports.

Mahindra is also expected to refresh the interior theme for BE 6. As compared to the current black and grey upholstery, the new model could get a new black and tan combo for the upholstery. It remains to be seen if these updates are planned for all variants of BE 6 or only the higher trims. There could be some more changes planned across connectivity and tech, although these are yet to be revealed.

Same powertrains likely

While getting new features, Mahindra BE 6 is expected to continue with the existing powertrain options. There are currently 5 broad trim levels – Pack ONE, Pack ONE ABOVE, Pack TWO, Pack THREE SELECT and Pack THREE. Pack ONE and Pack ONE ABOVE are equipped with a 59 kWh battery pack.

BE 6 Pack TWO has both 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery pack options. Pack THREE SELECT is offered with the 59 kWh battery pack. All these four variants have an output of 170 kW (231 PS) and 380 Nm. The Pack THREE variant is offered with a 79 kWh battery pack. While torque is the same as other variants, the power output is higher at 210 kW (285 PS).

BE 6 variants with the 59 kWh battery pack offer a certified range of 548 km (MIDC P1 + P2). In comparison, the 79 kWh variants have a range of 683 km. All variants of BE 6 have features like adjustable regen levels, single pedal drive and multi drive modes (Default, Range, Everyday, Race and Snow). Updates introduced with the BE 6 could result in a slightly higher pricing. The current model is available in the price range of Rs 18.90 lakh to Rs 26.90 lakh. Updated Mahindra BE 6 will continue to challenge rivals like Tata Sierra EV and Creta Electric.
