Nissan India Sales July 2026 Up 218% YoY – Tekton 1st Month Sales 1,670 Units
by Pearl Daniels · RushLaneNissan records its highest domestic sales in recent years as Tekton strengthens the brand’s SUV portfolio, while exports continue to remain equally important
Nissan Motor India registered a strong performance in July 2026, driven by the launch of the all-new Tekton SUV and continued demand for the Magnite. Domestic wholesales stood at 4,518 units, registering a 218.17% YoY growth over 1,420 units sold in July 2025. Sales also improved 50.30% MoM from 3,006 units dispatched in June 2026.
The strong monthly performance reflects Nissan’s turnaround in India, aided by an expanding SUV portfolio. Along with domestic sales, exports also remained healthy at 4,821 units, taking total wholesales to 9,339 units during the month. All Nissan vehicles for both domestic and export markets are manufactured at Renault India’s Chennai plant, which became fully owned by Renault after the alliance restructuring last year.
Tekton Boosts Nissan’s Momentum
The biggest highlight for Nissan in July was the start of customer deliveries of the Tekton SUV, which began on 20th July, shortly after its launch on 9th July. Tekton reported 1,670 units in its very first month, making an immediate impact in the highly competitive mid-size SUV segment.
The model debuted ahead of rivals like Honda Elevate (1,949 units), Tata Curvv (1,697 units), Volkswagen Taigun (1,225 units), Skoda Kushaq (833 units) and Renault Duster (512 units). While Creta, Seltos, Victoris, Hyryder, Grand Vitara and Sierra continue to dominate the segment, Tekton’s initial performance provides Nissan with a strong foundation as production ramps up over the coming months.
Exports Continue To Be A Major Pillar
While domestic demand has improved significantly, exports continue to play an equally important role in Nissan India’s operations. In July 2026, Nissan exported 4,821 vehicles, exceeding domestic dispatches of 4,518 units. Combined wholesales stood at 9,339 units, highlighting the importance of the Chennai manufacturing facility as both a domestic production hub and a global export base.
The Chennai plant, now owned by Renault India, manufactures Nissan’s entire India portfolio for both domestic sales and exports, including Magnite, Gravite and the newly launched Tekton. Magnite continued to contribute steadily to Nissan’s volumes as well. In the sub-4 metre SUV segment, Magnite registered 1,462 units in July, improving from 1,167 units in June.
FY26 Sales Continue To Improve
The momentum is also reflected in Nissan’s cumulative sales. Domestic wholesales during April-July 2026 stood at 13,675 units, compared to 5,912 units in the corresponding period last year, registering a 131.31% growth. For the January-July 2026 period, Nissan dispatched 22,815 units domestically, up from 13,143 units a year earlier, translating to a 73.59% increase.
