After taking a look at the electric car sales last month, let us now take a look at the Electric two-wheeler retail sales, which has recorded strong year-on-year growth in August 2026.

Total electric 2W sales stood at 1,83,204 units, up 67.05% from 1,09,673 units in August 2025. On a sequential basis, however, sales fell 10.35% from 2,04,362 units registered in July 2026. Interestingly, every major manufacturer in the list recorded a MoM decline during August.

TVS retained the top position with 48,938 units, almost doubling its sales from 25,646 units in August 2025. This represents 90.82% YoY growth. TVS commanded a 26.71% share of the electric two-wheeler market during August. Sequentially, sales declined 11.82% from 55,499 units in July.

Bajaj was second with 41,114 units and recorded the strongest YoY growth among the top five manufacturers. Sales increased 235.73% from 12,246 units a year ago. Bajaj’s market share stood at 22.44%. Compared to July’s 45,613 units, sales declined 9.86%. Together, TVS and Bajaj accounted for almost 49.2% of India’s electric two-wheeler retail sales during the month.

Ather Third, Hero Ahead Of Ola

Ather maintained third position with 28,757 registrations, up 49.70% YoY from 19,210 units. Sales were down 5.27% MoM from 30,357 units. Ather held 15.70% market share. Hero MotoCorp was fourth with 19,007 units, recording 38.04% YoY growth. However, it witnessed the steepest MoM decline among the top five, falling 17% from 22,900 units.

Ola Electric was fifth with 13,852 units. It was the only manufacturer among the top eight to record a YoY decline, with registrations falling 28.83% from 19,464 units in August 2025. On a sequential basis, Ola performed relatively better, with sales declining just 1.80% from July.

Greaves Ampere registered 8,613 units, up 88.59% YoY but down 14.93% MoM. River continued its rapid expansion with 5,141 units, representing 170.15% YoY growth. BGauss followed closely with 4,845 units and recorded 180.22% YoY growth. Sequentially, River and BGauss declined 13.65% and 12.20%, respectively. Other manufacturers collectively contributed 12,937 units.

Electric 2W Share Above 10%

EVs accounted for 10.68% of India’s overall two-wheeler retail market in August 2026, considerably higher than 7.66% in August 2025. This represents a gain of 3.02 percentage points in one year. However, EV penetration declined sequentially from 11.24% in July to 10.68% in August. Petrol/ethanol two-wheelers consequently increased their share from 88.67% to 89.23%.
