by Nabanita Singha Roy · RushLaneMahindra XUV 7XO has crossed an important sales milestone in India, with more than 70,000 units sold in just seven months. Launched in January 2026 as the comprehensively updated successor to XUV7OO, XUV 7XO has emerged as one of Mahindra’s strongest performers in the premium SUV space.
XUV 7XO Averaging Over 9,000 Units A Month
Sales data shows just how quickly XUV 7XO gained traction following its January launch. It started with 10,133 units in January 2026, followed by 9,112 units in February and 9,210 units in March. Sales remained above 8,500 units through April, May and June, with May recording 9,338 units. July sales stood at 8,233 units.
Mahindra’s latest announcement confirms cumulative sales have now crossed the 70,000-unit milestone within seven months. Based on the January-August data available so far, XUV 7XO is averaging more than 9,000 units per month.
XUV7OO To XUV 7XO – Sales Have Grown Significantly
The sales trajectory becomes more interesting when compared with XUV7OO, which was originally launched in 2021. XUV7OO recorded 11,964 sales during its partial first year, averaging 2,991 units per month. Annual sales increased to 65,371 units in 2022 and 74,434 units in 2023. Its strongest full calendar year came in 2024, when sales reached 90,727 units, averaging 7,561 units per month.
Sales moderated to 81,675 units in 2025, with the monthly average falling to 6,806 units. With XUV 7XO, the nameplate has received another substantial boost. Its current monthly average of around 9,285 units is significantly higher than any previous full-year average achieved by XUV7OO. At its current trajectory, XUV 7XO is also well positioned to surpass the XUV7OO family’s previous annual sales record.
Well Ahead Of Harrier, Safari And Hector
Within the roughly 4.5m to 4.8m SUV space, Mahindra currently has a commanding position. Scorpio range led the segment in July 2026 with 16,009 units, followed by XUV 7XO with 8,233 units. However, there is an important distinction. Scorpio’s numbers combine Scorpio Classic and Scorpio N, covering a considerably wider price and customer spectrum. XUV 7XO, in comparison, is a single premium SUV range.
Against more direct rivals, the difference is substantial. Tata Harrier, including Harrier EV, recorded 3,301 units in July, while Safari registered 1,453 units. MG Hector and Hector Plus together managed 713 units. Even if Harrier and Safari volumes are combined, XUV 7XO remains comfortably ahead. This makes its performance particularly notable in a segment where customers have several ICE and increasingly electric alternatives.
