The big displacement maxi / sporty scooter space is expected to take off soon. To kick things off, we have Yamaha Aerox 155 which has been on sale in India for a few years now and then we got a few challengers in the form TVS Ntorq 150 and then Hero Xoom 160. Soon, Honda will enter this space with ADV 160.

However, Aprilia is already in the game with their SR 175 hp.e, which is a sporty scooter with a large 175cc engine. Now, an SXR version of this SR 175 hp.e with maxi scooter design language. A recent report is suggesting that Aprilia SXR 175 hp.e will probably launch next month, September 2026.

Aprilia SXR 175 Launch

Unlike the SR 175 hp.e which follows a sporty scooter format, upcoming Aprilia SXR 175 hp.e follows a maxi scooter format. So, it falls in the competition with Yamaha Aerox 155, Hero Xoom 160 and upcoming Honda ADV 160. However, it brings more practicality to the table with a flat floorboard as it has a step-through design.

The rivals have a spine in the middle, which is not very practical. In terms of design, we can expect Aprilia to carry forward the same aesthetics as SXR 160 and SXR 125, but with their latest big displacement engine from SR 175 hp.e. The same front fairing along with tall windshield might be carried forward as is.

Aprilia SR 175 New hp.e Engine

Superbike-like LED headlight setup on the front apron, sizable handlebar cowl, a single-piece stepped seat, flowing side body panels, superbike-like LED tail lights, single-piece pillion grab rail, side-slung exhaust setup and other design elements are expected to be carried forward with upcoming Aprilia SXR 175.

What to expect?

Similar to SXR 125 and SXR 160, Aprilia India is likely to retain the same 12-inch alloy wheels as well. It has to be noted that all three of its immediate rivals (Aerox 155, Xoom 160, ADV 160) ride on 14-inch alloy wheels to offer more ruggedness, rough-road ability, and a unique riding experience that 12-inch alloy wheels cannot match.

Aprilia SR 175 TFT Cluster

Just like SR 175, upcoming Aprilia SXR 175 might also bring the TFT instrument cluster which Yamaha and Hero currently do not offer. This TFT cluster will support Bluetooth connectivity along with a host of other features including turn-by-turn navigation. There could be a 20L-25L underseat storage as well.

The three rivals Aprilia SXR 175 will take on, come with a liquid cooled engine. However, the 175 hp.e engine on Aprilia SXR 175, shared with SR 175 is an air cooled 174.7cc single cylinder unit rated to deliver 13.26 PS and 14.14 Nm, mated to a CVT.
