Mahindra Vision S Spied With Scorpio Like Vertical Tail Lamps – Sub 4m Scorpio Sport?

New spy shots of Mahindra’s upcoming Vision S-based SUV reveal a different rear lighting arrangement from both the 2025 concept and the test mule featured in our earlier report. The latest prototype gets vertical lamps integrated into the rear pillars, adding a visual connection with Scorpio Classic and Scorpio N. Hat tip to automotive enthusiast Gautham for sharing these exclusive spy shots.
D Pillar-Mounted Lamps
The most noticeable change is the pair of slim rear lamps positioned alongside the windscreen. Each features stacked horizontal red lighting elements, giving this prototype a more finished appearance than the temporary auxiliary lamps seen on the earlier test vehicle.
The 2025 Vision S concept had its main rear lamp clusters positioned lower down, beside the spare wheel. While it also featured vertical light strips near the rear glass, those were mounted on external accessory structures rather than integrated into the body’s pillars.
The latest prototype therefore shows a notable evolution of that design. Separate rectangular lighting units remain visible lower down on either side of the spare wheel, although their functions cannot be established from these photographs. A rear wiper and bumper-mounted registration plate are also visible.
Another Hint Towards Scorpio Family?
Both Scorpio Classic and Scorpio N feature tall rear lamp assemblies extending alongside the rear glass. The latest Vision S prototype adopts a similar placement, although the individual lighting elements are different.
Mahindra has never confirmed what the “S” in Vision S stands for. We have previously speculated that the production SUV could adopt the Scorpio Sport name, and the new lighting arrangement adds another visual clue to that possibility. It does not, however, confirm the production name.
If positioned as a sub-4m Scorpio, the SUV would become the smallest member of the family. With the existing Scorpio range contributing around 15,000 units a month and leading Mahindra’s lineup, a smaller offering could introduce the nameplate to a wider buyer base.
16-Inch Tyres And Rear Suspension Spied
The spare tyre’s sidewall marking appears to read 235/70 R16. This indicates a 235 mm-wide tyre with a substantial sidewall on a 16-inch wheel. The relatively tall tyre profile should provide cushioning over uneven surfaces, although production wheel and tyre options may vary by variant.
The underbody photographs also expose rear suspension links extending inwards from the wheel areas. The arrangement appears consistent with an independent rear suspension setup, but the images do not reveal enough of the assembly to conclusively establish its configuration.
Independent rear suspension, if carried into production, would be a significant mechanical detail for the upcoming compact SUV. Final suspension specifications remain awaited.
Interior And Launch Expectations
Earlier spy shots revealed a dashboard with two horizontal displays, vertical AC vents and an electronic parking brake. Some components appeared to be temporary test equipment, so the final cabin could differ.
The production Vision S is expected to use Mahindra’s NU_IQ architecture and target the sub-4m SUV segment. While multiple powertrain possibilities have been discussed (petrol, diesel, hybrid, EV), the engine and drivetrain options for this particular model remain unconfirmed. A launch is expected in August 2027.
