India’s electric mobility sector is booming on a big scale, especially with electric scooters. The ‘electric scooter’ is now an umbrella and has multiple genres within it. One such genre is electric cargo scooters used for delivery of goods, gifts, food and various other items. There have been a few dedicated cargo electric scooters, but none of them come with a 225L boot.

We’re talking about the Qargos F9 electric cargo scooter from Pune-based electric mobility startup Qargos. It has been spied testing on public roads again and it still attracts attention from other road users owing to its unusual design and form factor, designed specifically with cargo space in mind.

In terms of design, Qargos F9 is a very unusual vehicle. It is a specialised electric cargo scooter designed for last-mile delivery, logistics and other commercial applications, from Pune-based Qargos electric mobility startup. It is purely function-over-form and gets a dedicated storage ahead of the rider’s seat with 225L boot space.

A 225L boot is more than what you can find in a car like Maruti Suzuki Alto and is close to what you can find in an S-Presso, marketed as an SUV. Rider sits behind the cargo space, which is concealed and illuminated too. This design makes full utilisation of space available allowing maximum cargo capacity.

Qargos F9 is not just about the space in terms of volume, but it can haul around 120 kg worth of cargo in that 225L boot space. This space can be utilised for just transporting cargo, but can be modified as a mobile refrigerator, a mobile store and many other applications.

What To Expect?

In the spy shots, it looks like this particular test mule had compartmentalised storage with two different compartments. We can see two hinged doors to access two compartments. There is seating for just one (rider) and the scooter extends far ahead, sort of like a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG’s long bonnet.

Handlebar is towards the rider and so is the instrument cluster. It has a circular LED headlight setup, LED turn indicators, RSU telescopic front forks, a rear grab rail, large wheels (could be 14-inchers), front disc brake, rear hub motor and more. Rider’s ergonomics looks comfortable for whole day’s worth of operations.

Qargos F9 is powered by a 6.1 kWh battery pack that sends juice to a 3.4 kW BLDC hub motor at the rear. Promised range is around 150 km on a single charge. Top speed is said to be 80 km/h, which is not bad for a cargo scooter.
