New MG Electric Car Teased

In addition to the concepts, MG will also showcase its existing PHEVs, hybrids and electric models at the Goodwood Festival of Speed

Under SAIC’s leadership, MG Motor is rapidly emerging as a major disruptor in the hybrid and BEV segments across Europe. To showcase its strengths and potential, MG has regularly marked its attendance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. This year, MG’s primary attractions at the event will include two new electric concepts. Both of these are planned to undergo full commercial production.

MG new subcompact EV teased

Among the two electric concepts that MG will be presenting at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed, only one has been teased. MG has shared two images, providing a basic idea of how the front and rear profiles will look. This will be a new B-segment electric hatchback, which will be available on sale in 2027.

In Europe, this hatch will challenge rivals like Renault 5 E-Tech, VW ID. Polo, Nissan Micra, Mini Cooper Electric, Cupra Raval and Peugeot E-208. Images posted by MG reveal a cute-looking electric hatch with smooth, curvy panelling all around. Other key highlights include a closed-off grille, a full-width trim in a blacked-out finish and 3D-style headlamps.

MG has used pixel-style lighting elements to achieve a quirky, futuristic aesthetic. The curvy design ensures the bonnet merges seamlessly with the closed-off grille for a truly clutter-free profile. Apart from the distinctive grooves on either side of the bonnet, there is no other detailing on the panels. This gives the electric hatch a clean and approachable design.

MG has also shared a side-rear image of the hatch. It reveals features such as a slightly tapering roofline, a roof mounted rear spoiler, a raked windshield and edgy tail lamps with pixel-style lighting elements. For more impact, the MG logo has been placed on the rear pillar. Some truly striking colour options are expected to be offered with this electric hatch.

New aspirational model, interactive robot displays

MG has not revealed any specific details about the second concept that will be unveiled at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed. For now, MG has only said that the concept is an electric design vision. It is positioned as an aspirational upcoming model that will help enhance MG’s portfolio. It is possible that MG may release some images of this concept ahead of its debut on 9th July, 2026. Both concepts will be unveiled on 9th July at 11 AM by Jozef Kaban, MG’s Global Design Vice President.

Just like previous years, MG will be showcasing several of its existing PHEVs, Hybrid+ and electric vehicles at the Goodwood event. These include the all-new MGS9 PHEV, which is the brand’s first seven-seat SUV. Other MG cars that will be displayed at the event include the high-end electric MG IM5, all-new MG4 EV Urban, MG HS PHEV, the popular MG ZS Hybrid+ and the striking MG Cyberster convertible.

Select MG cars will also be participating in the hill climb circuit event at 2026 Goodwood. These cars will include PHEVs and BEVs such as MGS9 PHEV, MGS6 EV and the MG Cyberster. To showcase its tech prowess, MG will also be hosting special events featuring its interactive robots. The 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed will be held from 9th July to 12th July.
