by Satya Singh · RushLaneIt is expected that Denza will first introduce the D9 luxury MPV in India, followed by the Z9 GT high-performance shooting brake
Denza is officially set to make its India debut on November 13, 2026. It is a high-end premium electric vehicle (EV) brand from BYD. Denza was originally created in 2010 as a 50:50 joint venture between BYD and Mercedes-Benz. BYD currently has full control of this luxury brand. Denza cars in India will compete with products from other luxury brands such as Mercedes, BMW, Audi and upcoming Genesis and Avinya.
CBU route, exclusive showrooms
Denza will be aiming to crack open the Rs 80 lakh to Rs 1.5 crore luxury EV space in India. Initial units will arrive as Completely Built Units (CBU), using the 2,500-unit homologation exemption quota. Based on demand, local assembly could be considered at a later date. On the day of the debut, the brand’s product roadmap and its retail and dealership setup for the Indian market could be revealed.
While Denza is a fully owned subsidiary of BYD, it will have its own exclusive showrooms. BYD plans to establish separate, high-end Denza retail showrooms across major Tier-1 and Tier-2 cities in India. Dealership network expansion will be carried out in a phased manner, depending on demand and market feedback.
Denza D9 luxury MPV
For India, the first Denza offering could be the D9 7-seater electric MPV. It will go up against rivals like Mercedes-Benz V-Class, MG M9, Lexus LM and Toyota Vellfire. Denza D9 measures 5,250 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width and roughly 1,920 mm in height. It rides on a 3,110 mm wheelbase.
D9’s exterior blends a contemporary, sophisticated look with features such as the signature Pi-Motion grille and a tail lamp bar spanning the full rear width. It has powered sliding doors that operate in both directions, soft-close doors, a generous panoramic sunroof and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Step inside and the D9 delivers a lounge-style atmosphere. Highlights include Nappa leather of a high grade, open-pore wood inlays and ambient illumination. The second row is fitted with Air Spa zero-gravity captain seats offering a wide range of electric adjustment, as much as 14 ways. These seats have leg rests, heating and ventilation, a 16-point massage function and a recline angle of up to 152°.
The cabin’s screen array comprises a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, a passenger-side display and, optionally, rear entertainment screens. Denza offers the D9 worldwide in both plug-in hybrid and fully electric forms. India is set to receive only the EV version, which may come with a 103-115 kWh Blade battery. Both front- and all-wheel-drive layouts are offered globally. Depending on the market, range can reach up to 800 km.
Denza Z9 GT
The Z9 GT is a low-slung, five-seat shooting-brake grand tourer measuring 5,195 mm long, 1,990 mm wide and 1,490 mm tall, with a 3,125 mm wheelbase. It carries Wolfgang Egger’s design signature — a stretched, low profile with dual-bar headlamps and active aero components. Also, a sizable rear diffuser and eye-catching tail lamps. Among its premium hardware are rear-wheel steering and a crab-walk function.
The interior brings soft Nappa leather, a larger 17.3-inch floating central touchscreen, and a pair of 13.2-inch displays serving the driver and front passenger. An expansive AR head-up display (up to 50 inches) is included, with digital side-mirror screens available as an option. The seats incorporate ventilation, heating and massage. Other key features include twin 50 W wireless charging pads, a panoramic glass roof and a 20-speaker Devialet audio system rated at 1,150 W with Dolby Atmos.
Propulsion comes from a high-output triple-motor arrangement. The all-electric variant draws on Blade LFP batteries in the region of 100–122.5 kWh. Power output sits at approximately 710–850 kW (roughly 952–1,156 PS) with more than 1,100 Nm of torque, enabling 0–100 km/h in 2.7–3.4 seconds. The top speed is quoted at 270 km/h and range at about 600 km. Ultra-fast charging is supported, with a 10% to 97% top-up taking roughly 9 minutes.
