New year, new rebrand, and in the case of the Actor Awardsnée the Screen Actors Guild Awards — it gets just a little confusing when the names are so similar.

The Screen Actors Guild’s Actor Awards, which will stream on Netflix live March 1, revealed the first nominations under the new name on January 7. They were presented in a live stream by “Heated Rivarly” breakout/hearthrob/uncanny Russian impersonator Connor Storrie and “Abbott Elementary” star and Critics Choice Award winner Janelle James.

Per every other awards show so far this year and last month, films like “One Battle After Another” (seven nominations), “Sinners” (five nominations), “Hamnet” (three nominations), “Frankenstein” (three nominations), and “Marty Supreme” (three nomination) dominate on the film side, with familiar series like “Severance,” “The Bear,” “Abbott Elementary,” and “Hacks” popping back up on the TV side, as well as newcomers “The Studio” and “The Pitt.” (Yes, “Adolescence,” which premiered almost a year ago on Netflix, is also eligible this year and is expected to clean up.)

Speaking of film, at Tuesday night’s New York Film Critics Circle Awards, Rose Byrne (“If I Had Legs I’d Kick You”), Wagner Moura (“The Secret Agent”), Benicio Del Toro (“One Battle After Another”), and Amy Madigan (“Weapons”) all picked up film prizes. At the Critics Choice Awards over in Los Angeles on Sunday, the top acting awards went to Jessie Buckley (“Hamnet”), Timothée Chalamet (“Marty Supreme”), Jacob Elordi (“Frankenstein”), and Madigan. All these names minus Wagner Moura (don’t rule him out of the international Academy) showed up on the Actor Awards list on Wednesday.
