How to Watch the 2025 Golden Globes — Including on IndieWire

Now that the holidays have concluded, in Hollywood, it’s time for a different kind of celebration. Hopefully the stars of this year’s hottest films and TV shows didn’t fill up too much on the Christmas cookies and Hanukkah latkes because this Sunday, January 5, they’ll be fitting into their best dresses and suits for the 82nd Golden Globe Awards at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. Hosted this year by comedian Nikki Glaser and airing on CBS, as well as streaming on Paramount+, the Golden Globe Awards will kick-off at 5pm PT/8pm ET.

Nominations for this year’s Golden Globe Awards were announced on Monday, December 9 by the creator of “The Sex Lives of College Girls,” Mindy Kaling, and the star of CBS’ upcoming procedural “Watson,” Morris Chestnut. Both will be on hand to present at the awards ceremony and will be joined by Andrew Garfield, Anthony Mackie, Anthony Ramos, Anya Taylor-Joy, Ariana DeBose, Aubrey Plaza, Auliʻi Cravalho, Awkwafina, Brandi Carlile, Catherine O’Hara, Colin Farrell, Colman Domingo, Demi Moore, Dwayne Johnson, Édgar Ramírez, Elton John, Gal Gadot, Glenn Close, Jeff Goldblum, Jennifer Coolidge, Kaley Cuoco, Kate Hudson, Kathy Bates, Ke Huy Quan, Kerry Washington, Margaret Qualley, Melissa McCarthy, Michael Keaton, Michelle Yeoh, Miles Teller, Mindy Kaling, Morris Chestnut, Nate Bargatze, Nicolas Cage, Rachel Brosnahan, Rob McElhenney, Salma Hayek Pinault, Sarah Paulson, Seth Rogen, Sharon Stone, Vin Diesel, Viola Davis, and Zoë Kravitz.

Leading the number of nominations this year was Jacques Audiard’s musical crime drama “Emilia Pérez,” including in the categories of Best Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy, Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture for Selena Gomez and Zoe Saldaña, and Best Performance by a Female Actor – Musical or Comedy for Karla Sofía Gascón. The film is currently streaming on Netflix and has already received the Jury Prize and Best Actress Award at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, recognition on multiple critics lists from around the world, and a sweep at the 2024 European Film Awards, winning for Film, Director, Screenplay, Actress, and Editing.

In the realm of television, the third season of the popular FX culinary series “The Bear” came out on top with 5 nominations, including in the category of Best Television Series — Musical or Comedy, and with the show’s main trio, Jeremy Allen-White, Ayo Edebiri, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach all receiving recognition again. Liza Colón-Zayas, who plays fan-favorite Tina on the series, was also nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television, her first time being recognized by this voting body and coming on the heels of a 2024 Primetime Emmy win. Allen-White and Edebiri both won Globes in their respective categories last year for their work on Season 2, with the show as a whole receiving Best Television Series — Musical or Comedy as well. In 2023, Allen-White also took home Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series — Musical or Comedy, meaning if he were to lose this year, it would be breaking a streak.
