Rob Reiner Wins Posthumous Emmy, Julie Andrews, ‘Widow’s Bay’ Among Others Honored at Creative Arts Emmys

Night two of the Creative Arts Emmys also saw a strong showing from the recently canceled "Spider-Noir."

Rob Reiner, the beloved filmmaker behind “When Harry Met Sally” and “The Princess Bride,” received a posthumous Emmy Award on Sunday for his guest work on “The Bear.” Reiner and his wife, Michele, were murdered by their son, Nick, last December.

Other big winners at the second night of the Creative Arts Emmys included screen legend Julie Andrews, who received the prize for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance for her work as the narrator on Netflix’s “Bridgerton,” as well as Linda Cardellini and David Harbour, who received Best Supporting Actor and Actress in a limited series awards for their turn as a married couple with a tangled history on HBO’s “DTF St. Louis.” Steven Conrad, the creator of “DTF St. Louis,” won awards for his writing and directing.

And Apple TV’s “Widow’s Bay,” a horror-comedy that became the sleeper hit of the summer, continued to dominate the Emmys, earning eight honors over the two nights of the Creative Arts Emmys. On Sunday, Betty Gilpin picked up the award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her portrayal of the wife of the founder of the mysterious island community, while the show picked up awards in technical categories such as production design, casting and music supervision.

“Spider-Noir,” the comic book series that Amazon Prime recently axed from its lineup, had a strong night, earning five prizes, including honors for its stunts and visual effects.

Next weekend will bring the Primetime Emmys, which will be hosted by Mariska Hargitay, who won two won Emmys this weekend for her documentary, “My Mom Jayne.”
