Liam Payne's final social media update has resonated with his fans following his untimely death. The 31-year-old singer, best known for his time in the globally successful boy band One Direction, has died in Argentina.

Before his passing, he had taken to Instagram to share a nostalgic photo with his former bandmates and pay homage to the late American filmmaker Morgan Spurlock. Alongside an image that captured a moment with Spurlock, Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik, Liam wrote a touching note: "Rest in peace Morgan Spurlock it was a pleasure working with you."

Devastated followers have since inundated the post with messages of condolence and disbelief. One emotionally struck fan penned: "Please don't tell me he passed away."

Whilst another implored for clarity: "tell me it's not true.", reports the Mirror. A sombre note from another follower read simply: "rip liam."

Having first attempted fame on The X Factor in 2008, and returning in 2010, Liam's pursuit bore fruit when he was grouped with Niall, Harry, Louis, and Zayn, catapulting them to international fame as One Direction.

The ex-One Direction member was vacationing in Buenos Aires with his partner Kate Cassidy when he tragically fell from the third floor of a hotel. A spokesperson for the city ambulance service, Alberto Crescenti, confirmed the individual had fallen approximately 40 metres and sustained "severe injuries which were incompatible with life."

The local ambulance service issued a statement to TN detailing the incident: "At 17.04 through the 911 integrated public safety system, we were alerted of a person who was in an internal courtyard of the management of a south house hotel."

"At 17.11 a SAME team arrived and verified the death of this man and later we found out that he was a singer in a musical group. Unfortunately, he had injuries that were incompatible with life, as a result of his fall, so we had to confirm his death, there was no possibility of resuscitation."

Prior to the accident, Liam had been sharing his Argentine adventures on social media and even attended a concert by Niall, one of his former bandmates. Liam was only 16 years old when he shot to fame as part of the world's most popular boyband.
