Met Office issues new snow and ice weather warning for Nottingham

Met Office forecasters have issued a weather warning for snow and ice which covers Nottingham and other parts of the East Midlands. Forecasters warn that a bout of snow may cause disruption across the region, with road closures and delays to travel possible.

In place from 7pm on Monday (November 18) to 10am the following day, the Met Office warns: "There is a small chance that power cuts will occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected.

"A small chance that untreated pavements and cycle paths become impassable. There is a slight chance that some rural communities could become cut off."

The yellow warning applies to the most of Nottinghamshire, though parts of south of the county, including areas on the Leicestershire border, remain unaffected.

According to the latest forecast for Monday, temperatures are expected to dip and drop to freezing by 8pm in Nottingham. The first half of the day has been given out to be largely cloudy and dry with some sunny intervals.

But some light to moderate rain is expected from 6pm through to midnight, with wintery sleet showers given out from 3am to 6am on Tuesday, November 19.

Forecasters say there's a 'slight chance' bus and train services may be delayed or cancelled, with some road closures and longer journey times. A separate yellow weather warning for snow and ice covers large parts of Scotland on Sunday (November 17).
