On a recent episode of Antiques Road Trip, things got heated as Philip Serrell and Catherine Southon competed fiercely for profit. The pair's competitive spirit was evident during their Midlands adventure, leading to a tense exchange in Coleshill, Warwickshire.

When Philip cautioned against taking risks with expensive items, Catherine shot back, "So play it safe? Is that what you're saying? Are you giving me top tips? " Philip firmly replied, "No, you can't play it safe! " An awkward silence followed as they drove their classic 1970 Citroen DS20. Despite the tension, Catherine's decision to ignore Philip's advice ultimately backfired.

With £200 each, they searched for antiques to sell at an auction in Salisbury, Wiltshire. Catherine's eclectic mix, including an amber necklace and vintage compacts, resulted in a loss, leaving her with just £172.30.

Philip Serrell, a familiar face on BBC TV's antiques shows like Bargain Hunt and Flog It!, shared a humorous experience from his on-screen career, reports Leeds Live.

Having been one of the original experts on Bargain Hunt since its inception in 1999, Philip entertained viewers with answers to their questions and reminisced about a rather funny incident that occurred during filming: "I was demonstrating an Edwardian child's swing and I hit the cameraman with it," he revealed. "He went down like a sack of potatoes. It wasn't live but the camera was still running."

He also gave some insight into his straightforward approach when teams make finds, confessing, "I've always told them! But it might well prove me wrong and not the contestant."
