Kickstart a career in HR supporting 38 academies across the East Midlands

by · NottinghamshireLive

If you’re looking for a career in HR with real purpose, Greenwood Academies Trust (GAT) has a role available to enhance your professional growth.

The Trust supports 38 academies across the East Midlands, from Mansfield to Northampton, Leicester to Skegness, and into Peterborough and Nottingham.

With more than 19,000 pupils and 3,000 colleagues, the Trust’s heartbeat is local: each academy is empowered to do what’s right for its community, while benefiting from shared expertise across the network.

As the new Junior People Advisor, you’ll be part of the central team that keeps this diverse family of primary, secondary and special academies thriving.

It’s a home-based role with a requirement to travel to Trust sites, and a competitive salary of £34,434 to £39,862 (full-time). We’re looking for a full-time, all-year-round appointment, but would consider flexible options such as term-time only.

A role that grows with you

This is an early-career launchpad. It’s fast‑paced, you’ll learn on the job, and you’ll be supported by an experienced People Advisor. The learning curve will be highly rewarding.

Your work will be varied and practical, providing day-to-day best-practice guidance, assisting with employee relations cases, investigations and paperwork, and contributing to projects that improve processes and customer experience across the Trust.

Your contribution will help academies focus on what matters most: great teaching and a safe, happy environment for pupils.

Why Greenwood Academies Trust?

GAT believes education is not a one‑size‑fits‑all business. That approach extends to colleagues as well.

Trust CEO Wayne Norrie said of the role: “This is a great opportunity for someone to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment, across a wide range of HR activities, supported by experienced People Advisors.

“They will learn on the job, develop their skills and gradually take on more responsibility. Their contribution will be key to the effective operation of our People Directorate, ensuring our service runs smoothly and positively impacts the Trust.”

What they are looking for

  • A proactive, approachable team player who can juggle multiple priorities.
  • A clear, confident communicator with strong administrative skills and an eye for accuracy.
  • Someone comfortable with change, who is practical, solutions‑minded and eager to learn.
  • Experience in an HR administrative role. School or education experience is desirable.
  • A genuine commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality and the Trust’s values.

Benefits highlights

GAT recognises the huge difference colleagues make to children, families and communities. Alongside nationally agreed terms and conditions, you’ll enjoy a generous benefits package.

While the full package is extensive, several highlights stand out: a generous public sector pension scheme; a 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme and Wellbeing Gateway for wellbeing support; CPD opportunities, upskilling and structured professional review and automatic pay progression.

How to apply

If this opportunity attracts sufficient interest, the Trust may close and interview earlier than the advertised closing date of midnight on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, so early applications are advised.
