Evangelos Marinakis has already made Ange Postecoglou feelings clear amid Nottingham Forest decision
by Stephen Killen · NottinghamshireLiveFormer Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou has emerged as a possible candidate after Nottingham Forest parted ways with Nuno Espirito Santo. The Portuguese tactician was relieved of his duties at the City Ground, just months after a new deal and despite the club's first European campaign in decades on the horizon.
The decision comes after rising tension within the club, which led to the former Wolves boss speaking out regarding his relationship with co-owner Evangelos Marinakis. The pressure was compounded by a difficult start to the Premier League season with a 3-0 home defeat to West Ham United on the eve of the international break leaving them in midtable with four points from three matches.
Uncertainty has surrounded the future of Nuno since his comments with reports suggesting a rift following the arrival of former Arsenal sporting director, Edu.
But in the early hours of Tuesday morning, it was confirmed that the managerial search was underway at the City Ground, days before the trip to Premier League title contenders Arsenal on Saturday (12:30pm kick-off).
The club's statement read: "Nottingham Forest Football Club confirms that, following recent circumstances, Nuno Espírito Santo has today been relieved of his duties as Head Coach.
"The Club thanks Nuno for his contribution during a very successful era at the City Ground, in particular his role in the 2024/25 season, which will forever be remembered fondly in the history of the Club.
"As someone who played a pivotal role in our success last season, he will always hold a special place in our journey."

Reports suggest that the former Spurs boss Postecoglou is the preferred replacement with Brendan Rodgers and Jose Mourinho also likely to be linked.
The Forest co-owner has previously spoken highly about Postecoglou, who was dismissed by Spurs despite leading them to Europa League silverware in his second season.
“What I want to say about Ange is that he has spoken about Greece many times, he is proud to be Greek and in the great success he had with Tottenham by winning the Europa League, he spoke about Greece," Markinakis said via Greek news website Neos Kosmos in the summer.
"A man who not only does not hide his origin but is also proud of it.
"What he achieved, he did with a team that has not won any titles, it has had a very difficult time in recent years.
"In this huge success that the whole world saw, he promoted Greece.
"We must thank him especially for this and we wish him well, although we are sure that he will do well as he has the ability.
"Wherever he goes, the successes will come.”
