ITV Emmerdale Tom King's downfall 'sealed' in Belle Dingle twist over key clue

Emmerdale viewers are convinced that Belle Dingle will make a huge mistake after she failed to take precautions in the dramatic episode

Emmerdale took the Tom King and Belle Dingle plot to new heights in the latest episode on Tuesday (October 1). During Monday's instalment, broadcast on September 30, audiences saw Tom in a hospital bed recovering from his injuries with Uncle Jimmy King by his side, following an attack last week.

When the police came to interview him about the incident, he claimed he couldn't remember anything, saying his memory was a "blank" before cutting the interview short. But Tom showed his true colours when he rang Belle, cheekily asking, "Don't I even get a hello? After what you did to me?"

He then sinisterly demanded that she visit him in hospital "or else I'll tell the police everything". Belle's family, realising the seriousness of the situation, began covering up the actual nature of their dispute, which was self-defence, and plotted for Belle to flee to Ireland.

Nevertheless, Tom sent her a chilling message which forced her to see him at the hospital. Upon her arrival, Tom dropped a bombshell telling Belle that if she retracted her allegations of his abuse – accusations that were indeed true – he would not disclose to the police her role in the assault.

Belle was appalled as Tom attempted to manipulate her further, ultimately threatening her into following his schemes when he forcefully kissed her after requesting a seemingly innocent peck on the cheek, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Later, in hospital, Tom deceived the police by claiming two unknown assailants attacked him. By the episode's conclusion, Belle confronted the officers with her truth and the weapon involved.

She confessed: "I've attacked my husband in self-defence, he wanted to kill me, I'm a victim of domestic abuse." Social media was abuzz with viewers speculating on whether Belle might have secretly recorded Tom’s hospital admission as potential evidence of his wrongdoing.

One fan tweeted: "Record everything Belle! #Emmerdale", another suggested: "I hope Belle has the sense to record Tom this time" while someone else expressed: "Now, if Belle had a bit of sense, she'd have her phone recording in her pocket #Emmerdale."
