While tennis champion Novak Djokovic has yet to pin down his retirement date, it's clear he's set for a lavish lifestyle beyond the court. The Serbian legend, holder of an unmatched 24 Grand Slam titles, has ambitions to add a few more trophies to his cabinet despite nearing the twilight of his remarkable career.

Still dominating the rankings as world No. 1 and displaying impressive form by clinching a gold medal at the Paris Olympics this year, the 37 year old remains competitive at the highest level, recently securing a runner-up spot at Wimbledon and reaching the semi-finals in Melbourne.

Since winning his initial major in 2008, Djokovic's 16 years at the pinnacle of tennis have led to vast earnings, with Forbes reporting that he made £28.8million ($38.4m) in the past year alone.

Djokovic's winnings and lucrative endorsements have facilitated the creation of an impressive real estate collection, ranging from properties in New York City to Monte Carlo and Marbella. While he has several luxury spots suitable for his retirement days, Djokovic's father, Srdjan, believes the tennis great will ultimately settle back in Serbia.

Srdjan Djokovic shared his thoughts about his son's future, remarking, "When Novak finishes his tennis career, he will live in his city Belgrade, his country Serbia," adding, "I think there is no greater satisfaction, pride and success than your child spreading the glory of his people and his country all over the world.", reports the Mirror.

The Olympic champion purchased a three-bedroom penthouse in New Belgrade, with views over Lake Pavlov back in 2018. However, this is far from the most expensive property in his collection.

The tennis superstar spent an impressive £7.5million ($10m) on two luxurious apartments in New York's SoHo district in 2017. Djokovic started his international lifestyle at a young age and established a base in Monte Carlo in 2008, where he resided with his wife Jelena after securing his first Grand Slam.

A return to Belgrade wouldn't be the family's first move, as they relocated from France to Marbella in 2020 after purchasing a £7.5million ($10m) mansion. Despite the possibility of investing in a more extravagant Belgrade residence, Djokovic appears committed to making the city his primary home.

The Djokovic family are devoted to enhancing Belgrade's tourist appeal, having launched the Novak Tennis Center in 2009. His parents operate the Novak 1 cafe and restaurant, and the former world No. 1 also owns the five-star Square Nine hotel in the Serbian capital. Djokovic's pride in representing Serbia was evident at the Paris Olympics, where he finally secured a long-awaited gold medal to add to his extensive list of accomplishments.

He was visibly emotional after securing the win and has expressed his wish to compete for his country for as long as possible.

"Words are superfluous, how much it means to me to play for Serbia. Actions speak," Djokovic stated. "I think my dedication says it all.I don't know yet how long I will play tennis, but as long as I play, playing for Serbia will be my priority. I will do my best to be available".
