At least 26 pulled from rubble after building collapse in Pampanga
by Ian Laqui · philstarMANILA, Philippines — There were 26 people rescued in the building under construction that collapsed in Angeles City, the city government said.
Earlier reports said that at 3 a.m. on Sunday, May 24, at least 30 to 40 people were trapped in the construction of the nine-story hotel at Brgy. Balibago, Angeles City, Pampanga.
According to the Angeles City Public Information Office, 24 individuals were rescued from the collapsed infrastructure.
Meanwhile, two people were also rescued from an apartelle that was hit by the collapse of the building under construction.
Search and rescue operations are still ongoing to ensure the safety of others who may have been affected by the incident, according to the Angeles City Public Information Office.
According to the local government, it immediately activated the Unified Command System to ensure smooth coordination among all concerned agencies.
Under this setup, the local government said that the Bureau of Fire Protection is leading the rescue and retrieval operations, while the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office manages logistics and operational support.
Furthermore, the Philippine National Police is in charge of security and crowd control, while the City Information Office is responsible for releasing official updates to the public.
