PAGASA: 8 areas under ‘danger’ heat index on April 29
by Ian Laqui · philstarMANILA, Philippines — The state weather bureau PAGASA has placed eight areas across the country under the “danger” level of the heat index, warning of scorching temperatures.
In its latest heat index bulletin dated April 28, PAGASA said temperatures in these areas may range from 42°C to 43°C, with health risks increasing under prolonged exposure.
Under the “danger” classification, heat cramps and heat exhaustion are likely, especially for those exposed outdoors for extended periods.
Sangley Point in Cavite may record the highest at 43°C.
The following areas are also under the “danger” level:
- Tuguegarao City, Cagayan — 42°C
- Cubi Point, Subic Bay, Olongapo City — 42°C
- TAU Camiling, Tarlac — 42°C
- Cuyo, Palawan — 42°C
- Dumangas, Iloilo — 42°C
- Catarman, Northern Samar — 42°C
- Borongan, Eastern Samar — 42°C
In Metro Manila, PAGASA placed the Science Garden in Quezon City and Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City under the “extreme caution” level.
The Science Garden is forecast to hit 38°C while NAIA may reach 39°C, PAGASA said.
