MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has issued pay guidelines for June 12, Independence Day.

In an advisory issued on Friday, June 5, DOLE outlined how wages should be computed for employees depending on whether they report for work on that day.

Pay rules for June 12:

  • No Work Scheduled: Workers who do not report for work on June 12 are still entitled to receive 100% of their full daily wage, provided they meet the conditions set under existing labor regulations (such as being present or on leave with pay on the workday immediately preceding the holiday).
  • Regular Work Hours: Employees who render work during the regular holiday are entitled to receive 200% (double pay) of their daily wage for the first eight hours of work.
  • Overtime Work: Employees who work beyond eight hours on the holiday must be paid an additional 30% of their hourly rate on that day.
  • Work on a Rest Day: Workers whose schedule on June 12 coincides with their scheduled rest day are entitled to an additional 30% on top of their 200% holiday rate (for a total of 260%).
  • Overtime on a Rest Day: Overtime work performed on a regular holiday that also falls on an employee's rest day must be compensated with an additional 30% of the hourly rate established for that specific day.

Proclamation No. 1006 declares June 12 as a regular holiday in observance of Independence Day.
