The Israel Defense Forces said it hit rocket launchers that “posed a threat to IDF soldiers and Israeli civilians.”

Lebanon’s Ministry of Health reported that Israeli strikes killed at least six people and injured two others in the south.

Hezbollah said it responded by targeting an Israeli armoured personnel carrier in Ramyah. In a statement, the group said the attack was “in response” to Israel’s destruction of homes, which it described as a “violation of the ceasefire.”

The renewed clashes come a day after US President Donald Trump announced a three week extension of the truce between Israel and Lebanon.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said Israel will continue striking “any threat” in Lebanon.

Under the terms of the agreement, Israel says it can take “all necessary measures in self-defense.”
