Trump increasingly considering renewed military action against Iran, sources say

US President Donald Trump is increasingly considering resuming major combat operations against Iran as negotiations to end the war continue to stall, according to sources familiar with White House discussions.

Officials told CNN that Trump has grown frustrated with Iran’s handling of talks, particularly over the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz and what he views as divisions within Iranian leadership.

The latest response from Tehran, which Trump described publicly as “totally unacceptable” and “stupid,” has reportedly deepened doubts inside the administration over whether Iran is seriously engaging in diplomacy.

Sources tolf CNN that there are now competing views within the White House and Pentagon over how to proceed.

Some officials are pushing for a more aggressive military approach, including targeted strikes aimed at increasing pressure on Tehran, while others continue to argue for further diplomatic efforts.

Officials also expressed frustration with Pakistani mediators involved in the negotiations.

According to sources, some members of the administration believe Pakistan has not fully conveyed Trump’s anger to Iranian officials.

A regional official told CNN there had been an “intense push” from Pakistan and other countries to warn Iran that this may be its final opportunity for diplomacy.

Trump met with his national security team again on Monday, although sources said no major decision is expected before his planned trip to China.
