Stock markets today: PGIM India Mutual Fund launches RetireMantra
PGIM India Asset Management Private Limited today announced the launch of RetireMantra, a pioneering digital platform that reimagines retirement planning for the modern Indian. In a country where longevity is rising and aspirations are evolving, RetireMantra is designed to help individuals and families approach retirement not as a distant worry, but as a vibrant, fulfilling phase of life—one that can be planned for with clarity, confidence, and purpose.
Retirement readiness is critical because it’s the only financial goal for which we don’t get a loan. Yet, much like knowing the benefits of fitness but skipping basic steps, retirement planning faces similar behavioral hurdles. Negative emotions, misconceptions about financial instruments, and lack of awareness often lead to procrastination. For many Indians, retirement is clouded by thoughts of declining health, loneliness, or loss of influence—emotional barriers that delay action until it’s too late.
RetireMantra is built to address these barriers head-on. The platform integrates behavioral nudges, interactive tools, and inspiring stories to make retirement planning tangible and actionable. At its core is the belief that retirement is not an end, but a new beginning—a time to renew, recharge, and pursue passions with purpose.

Stock markets today: How did gems & jewellery sector fare in 2025?
“Internationally, the year 2025 has been quite a mixed-bag for the Indian Gems & Jewellery sector, especially influenced global economic headwinds and a rise in the price of precious metals. To add to it, the trade tariffs was another major shock of the sector. There was a panic-trade situation where the sector witnessed a spike in cross-border business for a couple of months, before going back to a dull momentum. Contrastingly, the domestic market performed very well throughout, with some negligible corrections here and there, as consumption gained strength on the backdrop of a robust economy, empowered purchasing ability, and the GST Bonanza right ahead of the festive season. It is safe to say that the vacuum created by international trade volatility was covered to a certain extent by domestic demand.
The reflection of a robust domestic economic activity can be seen in the real GPD growth – which has recorded six quarters high during H1FY26. This is a major indicator of strengthened consumption appetite of the Indian population and is expected to continue. This sentiment is here to stay and underlines a well-optimized growth for the domestic gems & jewellery sector, irrespective of the downtrend in the global markets. Overall, we will see the gold prices further stride toward new record highs, but will remain a favourite investment and prestige purchase for the Indian population, keeping the sectoral growth trajectory upwards.”

Stock market live updates today: Vikram Subburaj, CEO, Giottus.com, on Bitcoin price movements:
“Bitcoin’s slide to $84,000 extended the late-November weakness, as repeated failed attempts to clear the $92,000 mark exposed the absence of fresh spot demand. Despite a dense cost-basis cluster near $8,000 providing some on-chain support, buyers have stayed largely passive. Also, leverage-driven sell-offs continue to dominate intraday moves. Exchange data show a record low Bitcoin-to-stablecoin reserve ratio. This means dry powder is available but remains sidelined. Until that capital rotates into spot markets, Bitcoin is likely to oscillate between $82,000 and $90,000.
Macro forces add another layer of complexity. The Bank of Japan’s surprise rate-hike signals spooked global risk assets. The U.S. and global markets are looking forward to the Fed’s December 9-10 meeting. The end of the US Fed’s Quantitative Tightening yesterday marks a structural liquidity shift. But its near-term impact may be muted by uncertainty over inflation data and fiscal strain. Meanwhile, China’s renewed clampdown on crypto activity and downgrades of Tether reserves by S&P Global have weighed on sentiment. These have also amplified concerns over dollar-denominated stablecoin stability. These cross-currents leave traders reluctant to commit ahead of policy clarity, and it reinforces the narrow consolidation now defining the market.
Altcoins mirrored the weakness. Ethereum retreated 2% to about $2,800 as risk aversion and the Yearn Finance pool exploit triggered nearly $400 million in leveraged liquidations. Unless spot inflows and macro easing coincide, the near-term playbook favours range-bound trading with selective accumulation near support.
Our advice: Bitcoin’s move toward $84,000 reflects a market still short of fresh spot demand, even as stablecoin reserves signal ample sidelined capital. The key supports now sit at $82,000 (near-term structural support) and $78,000-$80,000, where on-chain cost-basis clusters have historically absorbed selling. Until spot inflows strengthen, price action is likely to stay capped within the $82,000-$90,000 range and dominated by leverage-led swings. With macro uncertainty from the BOJ hike, the upcoming Fed meeting, and China’s renewed scrutiny, investors should stick to disciplined accumulation closer to support and wait for clear evidence of spot-market participation before sizing up positions.”

Stock market live updates today: Renisha Chainani, head of research at Augmont, writes on gold, silver price movements
- Silver touches new high above $59 on supply squeeze.
The dramatic rise in Fed rate cut probabilities is lifting gold prices, while silver is continuing to build on fresh all-time highs as investor demand exacerbates low physical supply.
SHFE Silver stocks slumped to a 10-year low 559 tons last week, a 61% contraction year-to-date. Approximately 644 tonnes of silver have been withdrawn since early October, when tightening liquidity in London prompted a short squeeze and established an arbitrage window that drove metal out of both COMEX and SHFE warehouses.
Meanwhile, the anticipation that the incoming Fed Chair is going to be more dovish than past ones is also helping gold and silver.
Technical Triggers\u0009
Gold has started its upward journey again; next target is $4345 (~Rs 130,000) and $4400(~Rs 132,000) with strong support at $4170 (~Rs 125,000).
Silver had its biggest December returns in 1997 and 2020, with gains of roughly 17% over the month. This seasonal tailwind may intensify the present price trend for the December target of $60 (~Rs 180,000) and $62 (~Rs 186,000), with firm support at $53 (~Rs 161,000), assuming tight supply conditions continue.

Stock market live updates today: Praveen Sharma, CEO, REA India (Housing.com) MPC expectation
“Following the RBI’s decision to hold the rate in past meetings, the possibility of an immediate repo rate cut next month appears limited. The cumulative 100 bps rate cuts this year have already eased the burden on homebuyers significantly. If economic and inflation indicators remain favourable next month, a minor repo rate reduction could be possible, which might in turn bring down home loan EMIs. For now, the biggest positive is that the borrowing environment remains stable and highly supportive for buyers.”

Stock market live updates today: Insights from Ambit NextGen Summit 2025: India’s mid-market segment has emerged as new centre for value creation, founder-led innovation, and capital formation
Ambit Investment Banking lists key insights from the Ambit NextGen Summit 2025, asserting that India’s mid-market segment has emerged as the new centre of gravity for value creation, founder-led innovation, and capital formation
The core findings at the Summit, highlight that the mid-market segment (typically in the Series B to D and sub-$100M done) has accounted for over 50% of private capital deployed and ~40% of deal volumes over the past five years, totaling $42 billion. This mid-market stage is no longer a transitional phase but a self-contained ecosystem with diversified capital stacks and accelerated liquidity pathways.
Vikas Khattar, MD & Co-Head – Investment Banking & Head – ECM & FSG, Ambit, stated: “We are at an inflection point where the mid-market is no longer a stepping stone—it is a destination in itself. Domestic liquidity, diversified capital pools, and a maturing IPO ecosystem have created a lifecycle where companies can capitalise, institutionalise, and list much earlier without compromising fundamentals. This is a new market design—one that rewards discipline, purpose, and proof, not noise.”
Rahul Mody, MD & Co-Head – Investment Banking, Ambit, added: “The convergence of global and deep domestic pools has permanently altered mid-market capital formation. Ambit has successfully brought more than 15 new global investors into India in the last few years, alongside deep engagement with domestic family offices. For founders, this means access to capital is no longer linear—it is multi-directional. The ecosystem finally has the architecture it has always needed.”
Looking ahead, Ambit Investment Banking outlines five trends that will dictate market structure:
- Structural Scale: Average equity volumes are now 3x of 2019 levels, signalling sustained liquidity depth across both institutional and retail participants.
- The SIP Moat: Retail flows through SIPs are expected to compound at 18–20% annually, providing long-term stability that is largely independent of global volatility.
- Sector Rotation: Incremental institutional capital is moving decisively toward manufacturing and energy transition sectors, which have seen 3–4x higher deal interest year-on-year.
- Alternative Structures: Founders are increasingly utilising structured products and privately placed ECM solutions to raise capital without immediate valuation pressure, diversifying capital formation beyond public issuance.
- Resilient Liquidity: The market has matured; every correction in the last 24 months was met with domestic buying support within 72 hours, reflecting confidence-led liquidity rather than panic-based reactions.

Stock market live updates today: LIC an undervalued large-cap stock — ideal for patient, long-term investors.
LIC is India’s insurance colossus, controlling ₹57 lakh crore in assets, holding ₹15.6 lakh crore in equities (major stakes in Reliance, HDFC Bank, Infosys, TCS, SBI, etc.), ₹9.4 lakh crore in debt, and prime real estate worth ₹50-60,000 crore. Despite this enormous book value and a near-monopoly (61% market share, 290 million policyholders), its market cap stands at just ₹5.7 lakh crore, giving it a cheap P/E of ~10.5x (vs. private peers at 20-40x) and P/B of ~4x. Profits are growing strongly (Q2 FY26 up 31%), margins are improving, it carries zero debt, and the government owns 96.5%. Most brokerages rate it a “Buy” with median targets implying 25-40% upside in 12-24 months, and potential for much more if hidden asset value (especially real estate) gets unlocked.

Stock market live updates today: A close call, but December may still deliver: Madhavi Arora, Emkay Global
The RBI and markets have repeatedly misread the macro cycle on the inflation and growth fronts, underscoring how unreliable forecasts have become in this cycle. Beneath the supposed macro-Goldilocks, underlying growth remains uneven and nominal GDP is likely sub-8 per cent. With CPI poised to further undershoot by ~130bps in 2HFY26E, the RBI will find it harder to overlook its core mandate. Clear near-term inflation visibility — and the need to shift away from an increasingly misplaced 1-year-ahead CPI anchor — strengthens the case for a December cut, even with a possible split MPC. Primary liquidity infusion (Rs2trn needed in the rest of FY26E) and tactically smart communication will need to complement rate-easing. We reiterate that rupee’s softness should not be misread as a rate-easing deterrent but as a natural growth stabiliser.
December 2, 2025 09:15
Stock market live updates today: Elara Capital: Fed policy: tricky path forward
We expect the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) to deliver a 25bp cut at the upcoming meeting, taking the US Fed funds rate (upper bound) to 3.75%, in line with our CY25E projection, followed by a pause. The FOMC outcome would be a close call, where there would be voices in the Committee, supporting a pause as they await signs of economic momentum from pending data releases (delayed on account of the government shutdown). Government data released until Q3CY25 and the private & regional Fed data until October & November 2025 provides adequate evidence that the primary rationale for restarting rate cuts since September remains intact - the labour market is fragile and near-term risks persists. Inflation (core PCE) remains elevated at 2.9%, in line with our projection for CY25E but less than the Fed’s expectation of 3.1% (September meet projections), which is likely to provide the Fed policy space to arrest further weakness in the labour market.
Expect a pause in Q1 post December 2025 cut: After the December meet, we expect the US Fed to pause in Q1. Inflation is likely to remain sticky in Q1CY26, due to continued and gradual pass-through of tariffs and adverse seasonal effects. The labour market, while it remains weak, can see stabilization, as trade uncertainty recedes post the US-China deal. Moreover, at 3.75%, the Fed is at/near the neutral rate (R*) of 0.84%, providing window for the FOMC to assess the impact of a 75bp cut in CY25, evaluate the tariff impact on inflation, and the state of the labour market. In CY26E, we expect a 75bp rate cut(s) with pronounced easing in H2CY26 than in H1CY26.
Dual mandate goals are in conflict: Inflation (core PCE) was at an average of 2.8% YoY during January-August CY25 (2.2% ex-tariffs) vs 2.9% during the same period last year. For the rest of the year, we retain our estimate of 2.8-2.9% YoY core PCE (Q4/Q4; Fed 3.1%) as rising core goods inflation is offset by easing services inflation. In the upcoming months, we expect goods inflation to be sticky with an upside bias while services inflation is likely to moderate as wage growth softens.
The labour market, on the other hand, continues to soften. Alternate indicators in the absence of government data due to the shutdown keeps our unemployment rate projection at 4.5%. The latest Beige Book signalled that hiring sentiments remain muted across states, and (ADP) payrolls show layoffs in the private sector through November. Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) in October was the highest post-COVID at 48,852, signalling elevated layoff risks. Lead indicators of labour demand continue to moderate, indicating the unemployment rate is likely to rise based on our Beveridge Curve model.
Rebuilding reserves: In this meet, we expect the Fed to announce reserve management policies, from the start of CY26. Note, this is not quantitative easing (QE). We do not see the Fed undertaking imminent QE, although reserve balances have fallen below USD 3tn (the Fed’s defacto ample reserve levels), and the New York Fed’s reserve elasticity indicator remains firmly in the comfortable territory. The purchase of bills to fill bank reserves is a tailwind for bull steepeners. During bull steepeners, our analysis since CY18 (includes CY19 episode of reserve management) suggests USD trades neutral, with most daily moves (56%) confined within +/-0.7% range with 23% of days seeing >0.7% moves.
USD can see near-term upside if the Fed hints pause post December 2025: FOMC commentary is crucial and can give direction to USD (DXY Index). The Fed hitting a pause can inject an upside in the USD (which already has a weaker JPY as tailwind) that can push the DXY Index into the 101-102 levels in Q1. Add to this, if the BoJ hints at going slow on hikes, the JPY can see renewed weakness. If inflation remains sticky, and the labour market revives faster than expected, we do not rule out the DXY settling in the range of 100-103 for most of CY26. This, in our view, is a prime risk as the global markets remain net short on the USD for the past six months

Stock market live updates today: Market Wrap-Up AUM Capital
The Indian markets were off to a bullish start as investors turned
optimistic after better-than-expected Q2 GDP numbers and positive
cues from the global markets. However, extended pressure on rupee,
hike in crude oil prices, diminishing rate cut hopes by the RBI post
robust GDP numbers, and FII selling pushed the benchmark lower.
Among sectors, Auto 0.80%, Metal 0.56%, and IT 0.28% were
the best performers while, Consumer Durables 0.56%, Healthcare
0.62%, and Realty 1.02% were the worst performers. At close,
Sensex was down 64.77 points or 0.08% at 85,641.90 and Nifty was
down 27.20 points or 0.10% at 26,175.75. The broader markets
showed a mixed trend with BSE Mid Cap 0.19% and BSE Small Cap
0.05%. Within the Sensex pack, Trent 0.76%, SunPharma
1.28% and Bajaj Finance 1.65% were the worst performers while,
TMPV 1.93%, Maruti 1.37% and BEL 1.36% were the best
performers. The market mood remained bearish as 2,405 stocks were
down, 1,836 stocks were up, and 214 stocks showed no change out of
the 4,455 active stocks. In Asia, Hong Kong’s retail sales by value rose
6.9% in October as recovery in retail sales gathered strength and sales
of most broad retail outlet types continued to grow. China’s new home
prices rose 0.37% MoM but resale prices declined 0.94% in a sign that
the crisis-hit property sector has yet to bottom out.
