Tairāwhiti Nurses Host Community Healthcare Election Forum

by · SCOOP

Ahead of the Gisborne Hospital emergency department nurses' strike on Wednesday, the region's health workers have freed up their time to share their experiences, concerns, and potential solutions to the health crisis.

Health care workers across Tairāwhiti come together at the House of Breakthrough Church tomorrow (Tuesday) to talk about the challenges they face working in the health care system, and what they need from our elected officials to make positive changes in this election year.

Representatives from the Labour, Green, Te Pāti Māori and Opportunity parties have been confirmed to attend the event. National's Dana Kirkpatrick is an unfortunate late withdrawal. The MPs and election candidates will listen to community priorities and discuss actions needed to improve health care in the region.

Where: House of Breakthrough, corner of Lytton and Ormond roads, Gisborne

When: from 5.30pm, 8 September 2026
