Julez Smith joined a bevy of A-list celebrities and guests at the reopening of Burberry‘s New York City flagship on Wednesday. The burgeoning model and nephew of Beyoncé wore quintessential Burberry-inspired pieces that celebrated the British clothing brand.

For the occasion, Smith opted for a plaid checkered zip-up hoodie with shades of blue and tan throughout. Smith, the son of Solange Knowles and her former husband Daniel Smith, continued his semi-casual attire with contrasting tones.

The 19-year-old model paired his plaid hoodie with gray distressed trousers. He completed his attire with a cream shirt beneath his hoodie and wore a pair of sneakers with pops of blue.

Smith’s profile in the fashion world has been growing over the course of the last few years. The young model recently attended an event for Marc Jacobs and Highsnobiety during New York Fashion Week last September.

The model’s runway résumé is also growing. Since his runway debut for Luar’s fall 2024 ready-to-wear collection during New York Fashion Week last February, which his mother, aunt Beyoncé and grandmother Tina Knowles attended, Smith hit the runway and made his Paris Fashion Week debut, modeling designs from Bluemarble’s spring 2025 show.

More recently, Smith returned to New York Fashion Week this past September and hit the runway for Off-White’s spring 2025 collection. For the show, the 19-year-old model wore a sleeveless black hoodie featuring colorful, abstract graphics. His pants continued the graphic-heavy theme with coordinating abstract motifs, which served to marry the whole look together.

Burberry’s New York City flagship first opened in 1978. The reopening of the store coincides with Burberry’s “It’s Always Burberry Weather” cinematic campaign, comprised of a series of humorous and warm vignettes that highlight the storied 165-year history of the British luxury fashion brand. The campaign features Barry Keoghan, Olivia Colman, Zhang Jingyi and more.
