Morrisons has issued an urgent recall for crushed garlic and customers who bought the £1 kitchen staple are being advised it is potentially unsafe to eat due to a missing ingredient that prevents microbiological growth.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) said in a statement on its website the supermarket would display notices in stores where the product was sold, and these would advise customers what to do with the product. The Mirror reports the recalled products have a Best Before date of October 19, 2025.
The FSA said: “Morrisons is recalling the above product. Point of sale notices will be displayed in stores where the product was sold. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.”
A separate statement from the FSA states no other Morrisons products have been affected.
The notice states: “Customers who have purchased the 75g packets with a best before date of October 19, 2025, are advised not to consume it but return it to the store, receipt or no receipt, for a full refund. Please do not eat this product and return it to your nearest store for a full refund.
“We don’t need a receipt. No other products or date codes are affected by this issue. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and assure customers of our continuing commitment to the highest standard of product quality and safety.”
