Crime boss Jamie 'Iceman' Stevenson jailed for 20 years over £100m plot to smuggle cocaine in banana boxes

Jamie "Iceman" Stevenson was locked up at the High Court in Glasgow today.

A Scots crime boss who masterminded a plot to smuggle £100m of cocaine from Ecuador in boxes of bananas has been jailed for 20 years.

Jamie "Iceman" Stevenson, was locked at the High Court in Glasgow on Wednesday.

The 59-year-old, who entered a guilty plea mid-trial, had faced 14 charges relating to the importation of class-A drugs.

He admitted two charges - of directing a serious criminal offence of importation of cocaine, and of being involved in organised crime through the production and supply of etizolam, often known as street Valium.

His not guilty pleas to the remaining charges were accepted by the Crown.

The crime boss had been subject to an international appeal by the National Crime Agency after the seizure of a tonne of cocaine at the Port of Dover in September 2020.
