MINISFORUM’s new NAS devices support up to 7 SSDs and Intel Panther Lake
by Brad Linder · LiliputingChinese Mini PC maker MINISFORUM branched out into the network-attached storage (NAS) space last year with the launch of the MINISFORUM N5 Pro, and since then the company has introduced several additional models for folks looking for something that’s either cheaper or much more powerful (and expensive).
Now the company is adding two new models to its lineup: the MINISFORUM All-Flash S5 and All-Flash S7. As the names suggest, these are SSD-only systems that support plenty of solid state storage, but which do not have room for hard drives. That makes them speedier, quieter… and probably a lot more expensive to equip with storage.
The entry-level model is the compact All-Flash S5, which is powered by an Intel Core Series 3 (probably Wildcat Lake) processor, and features five M.2 2280 slots, each with support for PCIe 4.0 x1 speeds.
This model has a set of ports that includes:
- 1 x 10GbE LAN
- 1 x 2.5 GbE LAN
- 2 x USB4 (40 Gbps)
- 2 x USB 3.2 Type-A
- 1 x HDMI 2.1
- 1 x AC power input
The company’s new All-Flash S7, meanwhile, is a higher-priced model that’s based on the same design as the MS-03 mini PC that was introduced earlier this year.
Like the MS-03, the All-Flash S7is expected to have an Intel Panther Lake processor inside, but since this model is made for storage, it supports up to 7 NVME SSDs.
Other features include a 10 Gigabit SFP+ fiber port, a 10 Gigabit RJ45 LAN port, a 2.5 GbE Ethernet port, and two 40 Gbps USB4 ports.
MINISFORUM says the systems are designed for use with a MinisOpenClaw AI agent with support for features like sematic photo search. But I could see this system holding appeal for AI haters as well… if it’s priced reasonably. MINISFORUM hasn’t said how much it will cost yet.
