Fire fight shifts to recovery and rehabilitation

INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – As firefighters close in on the last of the Inland Empire’s three major wildfires, evacuated residents are returning to recover what’s left of the scores of homes that were destroyed.

There have been some occasional flare-ups within the 39-thousand acres blackened by the Line Fire.

In the wake of the Bridge Fire, a closure has been imposed for the next 12 months on Forest System roads, trails, and other facilities within the Angeles National Forest. The closure is for reasons of public safety, the recovery of natural resources and rehabilitation of the landscape. All evacuation warnings for Wrightwood, Mt. Baldy Village and the Mt. Baldy Wilderness area were lifted Sunday (September 22nd).

Containment of the Airport Fire has reached 81 percent. The Forest Service has lifted all evacuation orders in Riverside and Orange counties.
