Cyberpunk 2077 gets a whole new ending thanks to a mod aimed at folks keen on riding off into the sunset with potential partner Judy Alvarez

Or who just want a happy conclusion to V's tale

I'd class few of Cyberpunk 2077's endings as unflinchingly happy, most are at least a bit bittersweet - as you might expect, given the grave situation the game's protagonist finds themselves in. If you've ever wished the one added with the Phantom Liberty DLC was a tad more upbeat or wanted a conclusion that sees V run off with braindance-programming love interest Judy Alvarez, you're in luck, as a veteran Cyberpunk modder's now brought that to life.

The modder in question, who goes by the handle Deceptious, has previously created a whole new intro to Cyberpunk's main story, so I guess it was only ever a matter of time until they turned their talents on the other end of V's tale. Cue their latest work, 'Happier Tower Ending (Judy)', which does exactly what it says on the tin.

If you romance Judy Alvarez - something only possible when playing as female V in non-modded versions of Cyberpunk - the mod ensures that upon picking the ending added by siding with Solomon Reed and the NUSA during Phantom Liberty, you'll get a new variant of it that sees V leave Night City with Judy. Basically, it's a Judy-centric ending playing off the framework of the NUSA ending, thereby loosely mirroring the Panam romance-centric ending you tend to get if you opt to leave Night City with the nomads. The mod's description has a full rundown of what happens in this new Judy ending, so give that a read if you're cool with major spoilers.

As with any modder-added endings, it likely won't mesh totally seamlessly with the story CD Projekt laid out, with Deceptious even noting a "little bit of suspension of disbelief" is needed for one bit of it, but it's a nice optional extra impressively assembled using existing voice lines and some revised scenes. Despite not being designed to take things off on an especially lengthy new epilogue tangent, the modder notes the creation's "incredibly complex" and so you may well run into bugs if you try it right away.

Rather amazingly given that, the mod doesn't look at a glance to come with any hard requirements beyond the base game and DLC. I'm not sure if it's wise to see if I can get it to work with the modded Cyberpunk playthrough I spent a good portion of last year chipping away at in the lulls between new releases, but I can certainly see myself trying it down the line.
