The Witcher 3 multiplayer mod's latest major update adds the only mount you'll ever need - your fellow players
Plus item trading and the ability to turn into a crow
· Rock Paper ShotgunAll right, giddy up. My bum isn't digging into your shoulders too much, is it? No, sorry other Geralt, I was talking to Yen. How's she doing at the bottom of this flesh tower we've decided to form in The Witcher 3's multiplayer mod? Ah, I see. Well, I can't print that sort of language, so I'm just going to write that she's really enjoying the latest major update to Witcher Online.
It'd have been rude not to take advantage of said update to the mod, which originally emerged to facilititate gaggles of Geralts getting up to no good earlier this year. As shown off in the video above and mentioned in the patch notes on Discord, a big focus of modder Rejuvenate7 and co has been cobbling together extra means for players to travel together.
As such, the mod now allows you to hitch a ride on another Geralt's boat or horse. You can also hop up said Geralt's shoulders for a piggyback of sorts. Then, someone else can climb up on your shoulders to form a three person flesh tower. I've heard it's the only way to see Novigrad these days. If the bottommost member of your human tower gets on a horse or in a boat, you're supposed to be bucked off into a proper seat, but Rejuvenate7's video does show two passengers on a horse remaining in stacked form as they hitch a ride.
If you prefer to explore from a point of view that isn't atop two Yennerfers and a Lambert, the mod also now allows morphing into animal forms. Getting a bird's eye view of The Continent as an owl or crow looks fun, as does scampering around as a cat or fox. Back in human form, the update adds a new player menu you can use to trade items between players. One player picks the item they want to sell and sets a price, with the goods being flicked over if whomever they're trying to sell to accepts the set price.
Rounding things out are a bunch of new emotes and handy backend changes. Notably, the modders have done a "full client and server rewrite", changing the server architecture with the hope of ensuring things are faster and that folks will run into connection issues less often.
If you fancy giving Witcher Online a go now it allows roleplaying as three Trisses trying to get into an 18-rated movie with the help of a magical trench coat, you'll need a non-pirated copy of The Witcher 3 from either Steam or GOG, updated to version 4.04. If you're unsure which version you're running, verifying the game files should push you up to that latest one. The Blood and Wine and Hearts of Stone DLCs, plus the Community Patch - Shared Imports mod are also musts. A setup guide from the modders themselves covers the rest.
Got all that, bottom Yen? Again, I can't print that kind of language, so I'm just going to write that you've really enjoyed trading away all of the valuables I'd dumped at Corvo Bianco.
