Path of Exile 2's 1.0 version is out this year after all, arriving in December with a full campaign, two neat new classes, and more

Hurrah!

About a year ago, the devs behind Path of Exile 2 delayed the game's 1.0 release to an unspecified point in time, only offering the hope that it wouldn't slip into 2027 (doing much the same about half a year later). But there's good news: it won't! As the action RPG now has a 1.0 release date locked in, alongside a look at what you can expect when it arrives.

As shared by developer Grinding Gear Games, Path of Exile 2 will be launching into 1.0 next month on December 11th. Probably the biggest aspect of the update is the fact that the game's campaign will be completely playable, with the fifth and sixth acts being added in wrapping up the story that's been built up over its early access release. You'll also have two new classes to play around with, if you've gotten bored of the ones you've tried so far or just fancy something new.

The first is the Shadow, which appropriately introduces a stealth mechanic. As you might expect of such a class, while you're in stealth, "monsters can't see you until you get within a short distance of them." Being in said mode also bolsters your dagger with a range of bonuses, and the Shadow also has another weapon type available to them, traps. You prepare these in stealth, "then trigger them automatically as you strike. Traps explode in the order they were thrown, allowing you to set up the perfect combo!" And the other class is the Duelist, who has the new stance mechanic. This lets you strengthen your sword skills, "enhancing each of them in different ways," with various stances allowing for "even deadlier combinations."

Beyond that, there's a new league to try out that lets you team up with Varek and his mercs to "conquer Wraeclast!" A whole bunch of new items have been added in, with many being revamped, and you'll also find new skills gems and support gems reworked. The passive skill tree has also seen a makeover, and a number of classes have also received some improvements. You can read about all of that in more detail right here.
