What are we all playing this weekend?

There is currently a white cloud swimming across my right eye. It's not, as I thought first, a smudge on my glasses. It's my old friend, a retinal migraine. I'm hoping by the time this article goes live it will have dispersed entirely and I can get back to a walk in the park. If now, this weekend will be spent in a dark room staying exceedingly hydrated.

That's enough about my wild plans. Here's what the rest of the team are up to.

Edwin
This weekend I'll be travelling to a faraway city and also, trying to work out who's operating a free telephone sex service that has been running continuously for about eight million minutes. Some/all of this involves a videogame.

Jeremy
This weekend I'll be playing a game for guides that isn't out yet, so I cannot reveal the name, but it's very cute and nerdy at the same time. Definitely a kids game though; I kind of wish I was playing it alongside my nephew, who would fall into its throes most obsessively. I will also be monitoring our pooch, who got her ear cut by the groomers yesterday and must now wear a cone to keep herself from scratching it silly. £98 pounds for a vet visit for them to clean a wound and apply a bandage which promptly fell off less than a minute after we left the vets... Groomers said they'd cover it, so at least there's that. At the risk of getting political at this little ol' gaming website, this is the future that certain UK politicians calling for privatised healthcare want!

I've sunk about 45 hours in Forza Horizon 6 so far, but can see myself soldiering on within a more chill, car collection-expanding fashion unless there's something else to snatch my attention away from hairpin-heavy Japanese mountain roads. That thing could well be more of American Truck Simulator's new Illinois DLC.

Got a busy weekend, but I’m gonna try and see Directive 8020 through to the end. So far, they haven’t managed to shed that slightly cheap Dark Pictures sheen, no matter how much they try to trick me by not explicitly titling it as part of the series. The reality set in when I was watching security camera footage of a spooky woman watching someone sleep for six hours straight, unflinching, then shifting her attention to the camera, cueing a very loud jumpscare. And when I brought this clearly quite disturbing footage to my commanding officer, his only response was: “YOU’RE BEING PARANOID! STAND DOWN” before returning to his daily routine of staring vaguely off into space as his facial capture wigs out.

I'm still at EVE Fanfest this weekend. There's so much EVE at EVE Fanfest, you guys. EVE Online. EVE Vanguard. EVE Frontier. EVE everywhere! Anyway I'll be playing Silksong.

Ollie
Family time for me this weekend, no games allowed. In theory.

Right now it's hard to think of playing anything other than lie-in-dark-room-until-migraine-passes. But I did install Drop Duchy on the Steam Deck the other day and I do enjoy me some slow thinky Tetris. I might need to play it on the television, though, because the handheld's small screen isn't doing justice to the game's artful flourishes, like the flocks of birds flying above the forests. I bet I'd be able to make out more lovely details on a bigger screen.

And you, reader dear, what are you playing this weekend…?
