Yadlin also addressed recent speculation about Israel's intentions in northern Gaza, stating: "We didn't go to war to resettle in Gaza. We went to war to dismantle Hamas and to bring back the hostages and to bring back our residents in western Negev [and] to live safely without the threat of the terrorists".

After being sacked by PM Binyamin Netanyahu, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated that Israel had achieved all its objectives in Gaza and that there was no reason for Israeli forces to remain there.

Asked about Gallant's stance, Yadlin said that bringing the hostages home is the "most important moral objective of this war", adding that it was also strategically sound.

"By ending the war, Israel will be stronger," he concluded.
