TOKYO, May 12 : U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Tuesday praised Japan's economic resilience in the face of headwinds from the Middle East conflict.

"I wanted to congratulate you on the resiliency of the Japanese economy given what's happening in the Middle East," Bessent said at the outset of a meeting with his Japanese counterpart, Satsuki Katayama, at the finance ministry in Tokyo.
