MONROVIA — League leaders FC Bea Mountain will put their perfect start to the 2026/27 Liberia Football Association (LFA) First Division season on the line on Wednesday when they face former champions FC Fassell in what promises to be a high-stakes fixture at the D. Twe Field in New Kru Town, Bushrod Island.

Bea Mountain, popularly known as the Gold Boys, head into the midweek encounter at the top of the standings with nine points from three matches, having maintained a 100 percent winning record.

However, their clash against the Soccer Missionaries will present a stern test of their early-season title credentials.

Fassell, currently occupying third place with seven points, trail the leaders by just two points and are eager to close the gap at the summit.

Bea Mountain Boosted by Returning U-20 Stars

Bea Mountain could receive a significant boost ahead of kickoff with the return of several key players following international duty with the Liberia U-20 national team at the WAFU U-20 tournament in The Gambia.

Six of the club’s top young talents were called up for the just ended Africa U-20 Cup of Nations qualifiers: Amos Parched, Darius Garmondeh, Pewou Bestman Jr., Josiah Lactro, Moses Kamara, and Ralph Weah.

Garmondeh, Weah, Kamara, and Bestman Jr. Have been particularly instrumental in the Gold Boys’ strong preseason start. However, their selection on Wednesday will depend on their physical readiness following their return to Monrovia.

Savage Faces Former Employers

Adding extra drama to the fixture is goalkeeper Ahameh Savage, who is in line to face his former club after completing his transfer from Fassell to Bea Mountain.

Savage’s presence between the posts offers Bea Mountain defensive stability as they attempt to preserve their unbeaten streak, though Fassell will aim to exploit their familiarity with their former shot-stopper.

Conversely, former Bea Mountain star Ketu Jerbo, now a key figure in the Fassell setup, will have an opportunity to make a statement against his former club. Jerbo’s intimate knowledge of the Gold Boys’ system could provide tactical leverage for the Soccer Missionaries.

Historical Advantage Favors Fassell

While Bea Mountain enter the match in prime form, recent head-to-head records favor Fassell.

Over their last four LFA First Division meetings, Fassell have claimed two victories, while Bea Mountain have won once, alongside one draw. The Soccer Missionaries have outscored Bea Mountain 6–3 across those four encounters.

Fassell recorded a convincing 3–0 win on October 16, 2024, followed by a 3–2 victory on February 4, 2025.

The sides played out a goalless draw on December 11, 2025, before Bea Mountain snapped the run with a narrow 1–0 triumph on March 1, 2026.

Early Benchmark for Title Ambitions

Wednesday’s clash is more than a routine league encounter; it offers Bea Mountain a chance to prove their flawless start is no fluke, while Fassell will be determined to show their championship pedigree remains intact.

With only two points separating first and third place early in the campaign, all eyes turn to D. Twe Field as two of the league’s heavyweight contenders renew their rivalry.
