First snow in Staunton? Get ready for temperatures to plummet later this week
· Yahoo NewsSTAUNTON — Enjoy the next few days and then get ready for a big drop in temperatures come Thursday. The unseasonably warm weather is on its way out with November weather arriving by week's end.
Monday through Wednesday we are looking at some rain with temperatures in the mid to high 60s. By Thursday, temperatures will plummet around 20 degrees per the National Weather Service forecast for Staunton, Augusta County and Waynesboro.
In terms of what we expect for later this week, a windy and much colder air mass is moving into our area Wednesday, said AccuWeather meteorologist Dan Pydynowski. "By Thursday and Friday, highs are going to be in the 40s," said Pydynowski.

According to NWS, we may see our first snow showers overnight Thursday and a very slight possibility of some ice overnight Sunday night.
"Any kind of snow showers are going to be up in the mountains," said Pydynowski. "I think when you're down in the Valley, could it try to flurry, sprinkle, I guess, but the real chance is up in the far western part of the county in the mountains where you're gaining elevation."
And ice? "I don't think there's going to be any icing this weekend," he said.
