Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's first rally in poll-bound Maharashtra was cancelled on Tuesday due to a technical snag in his chopper. The rally was scheduled in Chikhli in Buldhana district at 11.30 am and Rahul was to interact with soybean farmers. Rahul expressed regret over the cancellation and issued a video message on social media.
"I was scheduled to come to Chikhli (Maharashtra) but due to technical problems in the aircraft, I could not come there this morning. I would like to apologise to you. I was scheduled to have a public rally today and interact with soybean farmers. Soybean and cotton farmers face a lot of issues. I know that the BJP doesn't provide right price to these farmers. As soon as the INDIA alliance's government comes to power, we will try to find out a solution for you," Rahul said in the video message.
Rahul has another rally planned in Maharashtra's Gondiya at 3 pm today. He was supposed to land in Mumbai by a special flight and then travel to Chikhli by helicopter for the rallies in Buldhana and then at Gondiya, before heading for New Delhi this evening.
Rahul visited Nagpur, Vidarbha's biggest city, to address a conference on the Constitution and visit Deekshabhoomi, the place where Dr B R Ambedkar converted to Buddhism last week. Rahul is scheduled to again come to Maharashtra on November 14 and 16.
