Galaxy S26 One UI 9 Update Delayed: Now Arriving Alongside the S25 Series?

Samsung appears to have quietly delayed the global rollout of its highly anticipated One UI 9 update for the Galaxy S26 series. Initially expected to reach international markets on September 21, the Android 17-based firmware may now be pushed back to September 28—a full week later than the company’s initial projections.

The software deployment commenced in South Korea on September 16. Shortly after, a press release from Samsung Thailand indicated the Galaxy S26 series would receive the update locally on September 21, effectively signaling the start of the broader international push. However, that date passed without an update, and Samsung Thailand has since revised its official schedule, moving the S26 rollout to September 28.

This revised schedule creates a notable convergence in Samsung’s software roadmap. September 28 was already the designated rollout date for the company’s 2025 flagship lineup, including the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy Z Fold 7, and Galaxy Z Flip 7. Under this new timeline, Samsung is positioned to simultaneously deploy its latest operating system across two distinct generations of premium devices.

Such a prolonged gap between a domestic Korean release and a wider international rollout is highly uncharacteristic for a major One UI iteration. Industry analysts speculate that Samsung’s software engineers may have identified unforeseen bugs or performance issues in the initial domestic build, opting to pause global distribution to ensure system stability before a wider release.

While Samsung has not formally acknowledged a global delay—and the schedule revision could technically be isolated to select regional markets like Thailand—the adjustment strongly suggests a broader operational hold. Until the international deployment officially resumes, South Korean users remain the exclusive demographic enjoying the stable release of Android 17 and One UI 9.
