It’s Wednesday, and you know what that means: it’s time for another round of Connections! (Apologies to those of you who don’t understand this bit, but IYKYK.)

The last couple of games haven’t been too easy, especially considering the purple groups. I imagine quite a lot of folks didn’t get the Chinese philosophy one from Monday.

As far as I’m aware, the Eloise series of children’s books that made up yesterday’s purples doesn’t have much of a footprint at all in the U.K., where I grew up. I was a voracious, open-minded reader as a kid and I had never heard of that series. I’m curious about how popular they were/are in North America.

Here’s hoping for a slightly easier game today.

Today’s NYT Connections hints and answers for Wednesday, November 27, are coming right up.

How To Play Connections

Connections is a free, popular New York Times daily word game. You get a new puzzle at midnight every day. You can play on the NYT website or Games app.

You’re presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to arrange them into four groups of four by figuring out the links between them. The groups could be things like items you can click, names for research study participants or words preceded by a body part.

There’s only one solution for each puzzle, and you’ll need to be careful when it comes to words that might fit into more than one category. You can shuffle the words to perhaps help you see links between them.

Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to figure out, blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is usually the most difficult one. The purple group often involves wordplay.

Select four words you think go together and press Submit. If you make a guess and you’re incorrect, you’ll lose a life. If you’re close to having a correct group, you might see a message telling you that you’re one word away from getting it right, but you’ll still need to figure out which one to swap.

If you make four mistakes, it’s game over. Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen with the help of some hints, and, if you’re really struggling, today’s Connections answers. As with Wordle and other similar games, it’s easy to share results with your friends on social media and group chats.

If you have an NYT All Access or Games subscription, you can access the Connections archive. This includes every previous game of Connections, so you can go back and play any of those that you have missed.

Aside from the first 60 games or so, you should be able to find my hints for each grid via Google if you need them! Just click here and add the date of the game for which you need clues or the answers to the search query.

What Are Today’s Connections Answers?

Spoiler alert! Don’t scroll any further down the page until you’re ready to find out today’s Connections answers.

This is your final warning!

Today’s Connections answers are...

  • Yellow group — not working reliably (BUGGY, ERRATIC, GLITCHY, SPOTTY)
  • Green group — car parts (BUMPER, GRILLE, MIRROR, RIM)
  • Blue group — what a sitter might sit (BABY, HOUSE, PET, PLANT)
  • Purple group — ____ band (BOY, RUBBER, TRIBUTE, WEDDING)

My win streak is over after a five-day run. But hey, at least I'd be sitting pretty if this was Jeopardy. Here's how I fared:

I was overly confident with a guess of RUBBER, BUMPER, GRILLE and RIM before recognizing that the first of those didn't really belong and I was one away from a group. I yanked that, tossed in MIRROR and had the greens. I then had no problem with the yellows.

HOUSE, BABY, PET and WEDDING seemed like a decent group of life milestones, so I guessed the other four words, thinking they'd be the purples. But nope, I was one away again.

PLANT and PET seemed like the two best words to swap. But yet again, I was one away.

I was down to the wire at this point. I was stumped and didn't think a TRIBUTE was necessarily a life milestone, but I tried it anyway. And that was the end of my streak.

I’m annoyed at myself over this loss because the very first thing that came to mind as soon as I saw RUBBER in the top left corner was "band." I should have listened to my gut. Or at least remembered that later in the game. So silly.

That’s all there is to it for today’s Connections clues and answers. Be sure to check my blog for hints and the solution for Thursday’s game if you need them.

P.S. After Chappell Roan, Flowerovlove is my absolute favorite musical discovery of the year. I truly can't get enough of her earwormy bedroom pop.

I've been thinking about buying a bass guitar for quite a while, and might actually do that after the holidays just so I can learn the funky bassline to "erase u." So, even though I recommended two Flowerovlove songs a few weeks ago, here are a couple more:
