J&K Police reviews security, pilgrim safety at Shiv Khori Yatra

Jammu, May 2: A comprehensive review of the security arrangements for the Shiv Khori Yatra was conducted in Reasi district as Jammu and Kashmir Police stressed the need to balance strict security measures with a pilgrim-friendly environment.

Deputy Inspector General (Udhampur–Reasi range) Shiv Kumar Sharma on Saturday assessed operational preparedness of Police, Special Operations Group (SOG), and CRPF units deployed at key locations including Ransoo, Shiv Khori, and Pouni to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of the pilgrimage.

official spokesperson said that during the visit, the DIG reviewed the overall security arrangements put in place for the smooth and safe conduct of the Shiv Khori Yatra. He inspected key deployment points and assessed preparedness to deal with any contingency. The DIG also interacted with pilgrims (yatries) at Shiv Khori and enquired about their experience and safety measures. DIG Sharma personally inspected various critical locations, including X-ray baggage scanning points, the CCTV control room, market area, bus stand, Yatra Parchi counter, Kanda More, and Jandi More.

He directed the officers on ground to remain vigilant, ensure seamless coordination among agencies, and maintain high standards of alertness.

He further stressed on the effective use of surveillance systems, proper checking mechanisms, and crowd management to ensure the safety and security of all visitors.

The officers were instructed to continue proactive measures and maintain close coordination with all stakeholders to ensure a peaceful and incident-free Yatra. (UNI)
