Justice Pushpendra Bhati Appointed New Chief Justice Of J&K, Ladakh High Court
by Northlines · NorthlinesNEW DELHI, Sep 6: The Central Government has approved the appointment of Justice Pushpendra Singh Bhati as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, succeeding Justice Sanjeev Kumar, who has been functioning as the acting Chief Justice since June 2.
Justice Bhati is currently serving as a judge of the Rajasthan High Court. His appointment follows the recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium, which proposed his name for the post on August 31.
With the Government clearing the appointment, Justice Bhati will assume charge as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
Justice Sanjeev Kumar has been serving as the acting Chief Justice of the High Court since June 2, following the end of the tenure of the previous Chief Justice.
The appointment of Justice Bhati comes after the Supreme Court Collegium considered and recommended his elevation to head the High Court having jurisdiction over Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
