NCB Busts Int’l Drug Ring, Cocaine Worth Rs 1,745 Crore Seized in Mumbai: HM Shah
by Northlines · NorthlinesNew Delhi, May 1: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has busted a major international narcotics network and seized 349 kilograms of high-grade cocaine worth Rs 1,745 crore in Mumbai, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Friday.
Announcing the breakthrough on social media platform X, Shah said the government remains committed to dismantling drug cartels operating in the country. He stated, “We are resolved to ruthlessly crush the narcotics cartel.”
Praising the operation, he added that the NCB had cracked a significant international drug syndicate and described the seizure as the result of a “bottom-to-top approach,” where investigators traced a smaller consignment to uncover a larger network. He congratulated the agency for what he termed a “monumental success.”
According to officials, the operation led to the recovery of 349 kg of high-grade cocaine, marking one of the biggest drug seizures in recent times in Mumbai.
The seizure comes just days after Salim Dola, a drug trafficker linked to international terrorist Dawood Ibrahim, was brought back to India from Türkiye, officials said. (Agencies)
