Ministers, Advisor to remain available at Jammu Secretariat in May: CM

Jammu, May 4: In a move aimed at ensuring smooth administrative functioning during the summer session, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has directed three ministers and an advisor to remain available at the Civil Secretariat Jammu throughout the month of May.

According to an official government order issued by the General Administration Department (GAD), the ministers will be stationed at the Civil Secretariat in a phased manner as per a fixed roster. The arrangement is intended to maintain continuity in governance and ensure that public grievances and departmental matters are addressed without delay.

As per the schedule, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary will be available from May 4 to May 8. He will be followed by Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education Departments, Sakeena Masood (Itoo), who will hold charge from May 11 to May 15.

Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani has been assigned duty from May 18 to May 22, while Minister Javid Ahmad Dar, who handles key portfolios including Agriculture Production, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, and Cooperative Departments, will be available from May 25 to May 29.

Officials said the roster has been prepared to ensure the presence of senior functionaries at the Civil Secretariat Jammu, enabling better coordination among departments and timely disposal of official work.

The order underlines the government’s focus on maintaining administrative accessibility and responsiveness, particularly during the period when official activities remain concentrated in Jammu.
