J&K: CRPF Jawan Killed As Service Rifle Goes Off In Poonch
by Northlines · NorthlinesJammu, Apr 7: A CRPF jawan was killed when his service rifle went off inside a camp in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Tuesday, officials said.
Constable Abdul Gani, a resident of Samba, was on sentry duty when he suffered a fatal bullet injury from his own service weapon in Poonch town, the officials said.
They said the circumstances leading to the firing are under investigation, with preliminary findings not ruling out any possibility, including accidental discharge or suicide.
His colleagues rushed to the scene on hearing the gunshot and found him dead, the officials said.
Police have initiated inquest proceedings to ascertain the exact cause of the incident, the officials said. (Agencies)
