Two Suspected Terror Associates Arrested in Pulwama, Arms Recovered

Srinagar, Aug 25: Security forces arrested two suspected over ground workers (OGWs) of terrorists and recovered a pistol, 12 rounds of ammunition and a hand grenade from their possession in the Yarwan forest area of Pulwama district, officials said on Tuesday.

The arrests were made during a joint operation by Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army and CRPF in the Yarwan forest area of CB Nath in Rajpora, officials said, describing the action as a significant success in disrupting terror networks and preventing attempts to disturb peace and security.

Acting on specific security inputs, the forces launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the general forest area. During the operation, joint teams noticed two individuals emerging from the forest towards CB Nath village in a suspicious manner.

The alert security personnel swiftly moved in and apprehended both suspects, officials said.

The arrested individuals were identified as Latif Ahmad Deedad and Aejaz Ahmad Bajad. During their search, security forces recovered one pistol, 12 pistol rounds and a hand grenade from their possession.

The duo was subsequently taken into custody and a case was registered under relevant sections of the Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

An investigation has been launched to ascertain the activities of the arrested suspects, trace the source of the recovered arms and ammunition and establish their possible links with other elements of the terror network.

The arrests come within hours of security forces apprehending three suspected OGWs in Shopian district on Monday, officials said. (Agencies)
